Google's senior vice president Sundar Pichai has all but confirmed that the company intends to become a mobile service provider.

Speaking at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona yesterday (March 2), Pichai said that Google is exploring a tie-up with existing partners to launch its own MVNO (mobile virtual network operator).

Surprising news imo....not sure how much money is there and google is risking aggravating the other networks...

I think they'll probably introduce a new business model, rather than just ride on the back of another network.

Surely any such service would only be US side. Like their fibre optic ISP services.
