Z5 Premium is obviously supposed to go head to head with S6+ which it has just blown clean out of the water with 4K. I'm surprised no-one is talking about this.

I'll be honest I was skeptical that Sony could pull it off with 4k when maloqs posted the UAprof but they have. Except people will complain why no 4gb of ram? Then there is the issue of the phone going on sale in November while the S6 edge + went on sale pretty fast after unpacked, I even saw a commercial for it here in polish tv that it is available already at an operator's store and soon at stores. No wireless charging on Z5P, no 64gb option, only 32gb.

Of course the Z5P has things going for it, yes 4K screen, microSD card, larger battery but will it be enough for that 4k screen? Possibly better camera? Remains to be seen.

Good for Sony for bringing first 4K to market, should be a nice marketing aspect, except the premium name doesn't live up 100% to its name for me.

btw from engadget

It's housed in Sony's first mobile camera module with a closed-loop actuator, and in front of the sensor is a new six-element 24mm lens with a wide f/2.0 aperture.

Sony says that, thanks to the phase-detection pixels, the Z5 family can autofocus in as little as 0.03 second, claiming it's the "world's fastest autofocus in a smartphone." All we can say is it's very quick. The actuator helps with this by swiftly moving the lens to focus, and because it's closed-loop, it'll also offer better image stabilization, especially for video.

premium should released with 4g and compact with 3 gb ram i agree, another bad news are lens is f2.0 6 element and no ois looks like.
no doubt it will be better then z3+ but i doubt if it's better then s6 or g4.

3430 mah is good but 2900 mah for 7,3 mm z5 (z3 had 3100 mah with same dimensions) and 8,9 mm compact. they should have bigger battery with these thickness...

No OIS......Disappointing
Only F2.0 why not F1.8?

Does it finally have high res Panorama or still the lousy 5MP? Also can you actually use the scenes and HDR in resolutions higher than 8MP?

Should have had a 8MP Front Facing Camera too not 5MP.

Why are you so surprised about the lack of OIS? It was clear that Sony isn't ready for it. Personally I'm not a fan of it, it can't be turned off and it's bad for videos. Sensor shift stabilization should be better, I hope Sony manages to shrink it.

Why f2.0 instead of f1.8? Short answer - sensor size. Z5 has bigger sensor than S6 and G4, overall amount of captured light is similar. Don't forget that brighter lens with bigger ensor also mean more noise/artifacts.

^ The heating problem is fixed. Bteckt said it could record 4k more than 10 minutes so there's no issue anymore. I think liquid cooling is probably true
