seeing how the mid end is using the Omnibalance, I think it might be a good sign that their new flagship will be dumping the old z design. Or look different. And am I wrong or the C5 Ultra is using a weaker SoC than the M5?
And how is this MediaTek MT6752, as good as S800 at least?

I'm sorry for asking the question but I found it hard to follow all the FCC connecting the dots and other leaks. Does the arrival of the C5 Ultra mean we are less likely to see a flagship Ultra device within 6 months?

Yes this is new to Sony. I really wonder what is totoki planning. The camera have always been the differentiating factor of most flagship for a long time now but back on 2011 Sony had no differentiating factor when it comes to camera. Xperia Arc, neo, pro and Ray all have the same 8mp so let's not expect too much

Regarding the E57XX and E68XX,no record found on UAprof,FCC and Zauba.
E57XX is probably fake.
For E68XX i think it will appear when IFA is near.
I think post something relevent to rumours is better.

i hope there will be big new sensor then imx230 and 220 in z5 line but 2.2 lens for m5 is too suspicious.
they can easily use f2.0(even m4 use 2.0 lens) lens but they choose 2.2 |

Totoki took over in November of 2014, it would have been interesting to know which phones were under development at that moment. I wonder if him coming on board that late had any affect on CES and MWC 2015 plans. We only saw the M4 and Z4 tablet debut at MWC with no flagship. Maybe he killed off the MWC flagship? If he did this in favour of the Z3+/Z4, how bad was the MWC flagship in the first place?
I do recall reading some articles about Sony using mediatek in 4-5 devices in 2015, but this was before Totoki took over, so wonder if these plans changed or Totoki just kept them and improved upon them?

So far we had:
E4g with MT6732
E4 with MT6582
C4 with MT6752
and now add 2 more:
C5U with MT6752
M5 with MT6795
Looks like we have finished off all the devices using mediatek for this year? Feels like the rest of the devices should be with Snapdragon SoCs, E58xx, E66xx and E68xx and going by their E designation, they should still come this year. Perhaps these 3 devices will have their own debut and not at IFA?

No, the devices launched are not the flagships, they are mid-level devices. What me and maloqs were saying is that there is no Z5 on the FCC yet, meaning all the devices on the FCC listings have been identified. the latest 2 were the C5U and M5.

The M5 and C5U are mid level devices made to compete with devices coming out of China, so I feel it is unfair to compare them. If you want to compare just design then fine, but I still feel the C5U's bezel is just as thin as the Note5's bezel. Perhaps the difference in top and bottom bezel is more obvious on the Sony, the Note 5 also has asymmetrical top and bottom bezels. But then the Note 5 doesn't have a 13MP front cam with flash either, so a larger top bezel to accommodate the larger cam and flash might be the reason for the larger top bezel.
I will agree, the M5 has a rather large bezel but it seems to be identical to the M4, so at least it didn't get larger.
The Note 5 looks good I agree it has a nice bezel on the sides and top/bottom, probably the best Note so far. It is a shame though that Samsung removed the sd-card, battery is same size, so hopefully the new SoC will improve the battery life.
No point in arguing which has less bezel or what not, these are 2 different classes of devices priced very differently.
So we are now left with 3 more devices from the leaked list, E58xx, E66xx and E68xx. They line up nicely to the flagships, compact, main and phablet. Question remains when these will debut, if they are to come at IFA then perhaps they will appear at FCC just before the show? Or the devices will not be at IFA and instead will receive their own dedicated launch event tied in with Bond? One month to go until IFA  |

M5 is not only the successor of the M4, but also of the E3, at least bezel-wise  . C5 is good looking, I would have preferred a bit more of the OmniBalance design (top and bottom bezel same size) though. Original design manufacturer (ODM)?

Pretty sure the C5U's side bezels are smaller. It also has a much larger camera module and lens combo with a flash. Might even have front firing speakers.
Seems at this point, nothing they do will make you happy, so why even bother. |
