sony is typically pretty slow to launch new flags after they announce them. i don't find anything above impossible as of now.
It is not as bad as it used to be, the Z3+ was introduced in the last week of May and you could purchase it as of 2-3 weeks later in stores. It may not be that fast but I remember when sony used to announce products months ahead of time before their release. I'll be fine with an IFA intro and November on sale date. If anything I'll wait it out till december before buying it, assuming it is much improved over the Z3 I have now. |

Yeah, Sony used to have long time between announcement and launch.. from 3 months up to 6~8 months sometimes ( and some markets - like Xperia arc )
but now they become much much better, having 1 month target but sometimes it becomes less or more depending on which market...

Yeah, but they seem to launch z3+ only in selected countries. not impressive. i want to see them launch the next new flag devices as fast and in much more countries like samsung and some others are doing. i think samsung even launched s5 at the day of announcement if i recall, in the us. impressive. i'm not expecting that from sony though. septermber announcement and november launch is not much different then any other previous years. it is fine as long as they announce the 3 devices at ifa so people will want to wait until november and then buy one of or at least compare them to the other manufacturers flags before deciding instead of buying note 5, iphone 6s, lg phablet on the day of their release and pass on sony. if sony don't announce even one flag (for one, ultra fits the most - to rival note, 6s plus and lg phablet) at ifa they are shooting themselves imo, especially after z3+ mediocre impressions. on top of that, they rely on s820 being ready for this year. tough time for them as totoki said in that review that they want to see profit in 2016. they have no other viable choice though.

Most people complained about the minimal upgrade seen in Z3+/Z4 as compared to Z3. Please rethink again and judge how much effort have the engineers placed in after reading the website. I believe there will be more significant improvement in the upcoming Z5! |

More and more devices are rumored to come with SD820 in October/November. Even some unknown chinese brands handsets like "Mstar" will see the light of the day in October running Sd820 along with 4GB RAM. If those recent rumors about Xiaomi others are correct then I'm 99,99% sure that Sony will also be able to get it right.

I believe there will be more significant improvement in the upcoming Z5! Wasn't the this year rumored to be a "transition year" like the years before? That would mean no big steps, just little improvements design and hardware wise. |

Xiaomi Mi5 Plus - "Under the hood, we find Qualcomm's newest top of the line SoC - the Snapdragon 820, which should deliver unmatched computing power. Just to make sure things run as smooth as possible, Xiaomi has also thrown in 4GB of fast LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of onboard storage."
Which means S820 is already ready for mass production fairly soon? Will we see Z5 is powered by S820?
xiaomi is pretty famous for launch phones with insufficient supply for months, so Mi5 is probably not a good indication of SD820 mass production status |

Another 820 phone in october.if a cheap knock off company can have 820 in October there is no reason sony can't |

Everyone calm down! Sony will use sd820 i guarantee it. If they don't, they're going to shoot themselves in the foot. Why can't sony use it if a cheapo company can? Doesn't make sense to skip sd820. I see no reason to do that. |

The link is about Mi Note Pro with SD810, not Mi5. |
