About SD620. Maybe I'm wrong but its first results were worse because at first MSM8952 was meant to have 8xA53 cores (what we know now as SD420), hence the performance was similar to SD615.

About both 620 and 820. I noticed that their multi-core performance is slightly "sluggish" compared to single core scores. Usually multicore score was about 3-3,5 times better than single core (Exynos 7420 is even better - x3,66). SD810 was at the bottom of this range (single core multiplied by 3) but that's probably because of thermal throttling. Thing is - SD620 and 820 appear to be even worse. In the 620 multicore score is single core x2,66 and in the 820 - x2,89. It seems like they can't even use 3 cores at the same time. I hope they're going to fix this before they start mass production.
If qualcomm screw up the 820, then they are dead in the water. At this moment the 820 is still probably from fresh silicon from the fabs and as time passes on the results should increase as what occurred on the 620. I just hope that Sony will be able to get enough from the initial run to have plenty to go around in the fall/winter time frame, assuming devices will launch. |

Lol, so competition will use Sony's newest sensor even before Sony itself. Not to mention that competition will probably be making better photos if we are gonna judge by the past.
Or maybe Sony will use even more advanced sensor in Z5 line, but i doubt it. |

The Lavender might use newer Helio P10?

Do any of us know what Sony's sensor pipeline is? |

Lavender is going to be a midrange device so cheaper MT6752 is fine. It's actually pretty decent SoC. |

E56XX with Helio X10 and IMX 230

Like nodarsixar mentioned, new E56xx model uses the Helio X10, aka MT6795M. Lavender should be the T4/5 ultra, at least this is the only model not updated yet.
The new MX5 looks like a blatant copy of the current iphone, even the press photos seem to copy the iphone, not to mention the wallpaper. I don't understand why Meizu went with the older imx220 and not the newer imx230 with phase detection.
@nikola1970 Sony already sold the IMX240 and IMX234 to samsung and LG, Sony could have easily used these in their mid range devices but decided against it. But it looks like the E56xx will finally get a decent sensor in a mid range phone. Perhaps sony wants to sell off the initial run to other manufacturers since the initial run might not always be defect free. Then there is the possibility that the Z3+/Z4 was to receive the IMX230 but due to the problems with the SD810, it was abandoned?
It seems the IMX230 had an update added on the sony site, doesn't seem like much was updated in terms of specs.

@-XYZ if there is any new sensors in the pipeline, Sony is keeping quiet about them but I feel sony put enough investment into the IMX230, so they might as well use it. |

Why?
If they have a better one in the pipeline wait till its ready...
They shocked the f**k out of everyone with their insane Backlit Full Frame A7R II sensor. Nobody saw it coming. Nobody thought it'd have 399 PADF points covering a whopping 60% of the frame, but they had it and they were waiting for it to be ready.

It's a shame how dumb Sony thinks consumers... With no innovation during the past 22 months since the announcement of Z1, given the specifications of ZTE nubia Z9, now the Huawei honor 7's, I don't understand why Sony thinks people would buy Z3+ over the Honor 7 for 3x of the latter's price. Or why even would someone buy the more expensive Z3+ instead of the Z1/Z2/Z3, with virtually the same specifications?
I haven't even mentioned LG, Apple, Samsung.
But if Sony want people to pay 3x more for only the Sony brand, than it's pathetic that even Chinese manufacturers are offering really "the best of Sony", for the third of Sony Xperias' prices with the same premium build quality as Sony's, if not better...

I wonder about why SONY always give the competitor it's latest technology instead of implement on it own product first.
Did SONY care about the xperia's user ?
f**k YOU SONY !!! |
