^not really i like the idea actually. Remember, the smartphones nowadays are really big. It is easier to reach the side of the phone by one hand instead of reaching the bottom of the screen. I do have Sony go forward with fingerprint sensor on the side. |

I disagree. You're using your phone by touching the screen and because phones are so big you need to change grip to lock it. With fingerprint scanner on the side you'll need to change the grip again after unlocking. That's unnecessary complication, if it can be located around screen area - it should be there. It's the most intuitive option. |

Just a quick heads up people I'll be updating the main page to include the Z4 and C4 soon. I've been very busy lately working a full-time job and starting up my own business.
Hopefully I'll have some free time soon together things in order.
I'm so happy 'cause today I've found my friends ... They're in my head

@penguino Well you need to change grip wherever you put the fingerprint sensor except under screen. Power button makes sense because you unlock the phone there and considering one handed grip it is a pretty convenient spot.

@penguino,
Why you need to change the grip ?
AFAIK, you can set multiple fingers to be recognised, so you will be able to use what ever finger that suite you by that time...

^^ Because current phones are too big to use with just a finger. With a fingerprint scanner on the side, you'd need to learn another gesture. More, as I said before, since basically all functions are operated on touch screen anything else is just distracting. Scanner on the side, where you have to fint it, hit it with the right part of the right finger is just PIA solution. If something you're going to use many times a day can be located in the screen area - that's where it shoud be. Apple did it, Samsung did it and it works perfectly. |

@penguino,
Well, from my experience; we -humans- are more than capable of learning new gesture and making it like nothing... Having used phones since dumb, feature, smart/touch, large smart/touch... I never ever had any difficulty adapting new gesture, so I don't see this as issue at all
And, because Apple & Samsung made it in front and it worked does not mean other ideas won't, Qualcomm is thinking about behind screen technology also... I still remember NASA spent nearly $1 million to invent a zero-g pen, while Russia just took some pencil's with them... Both having the same target but they took different route

Adopting new gesture fron unintuitive solution just for Sony, or ditching Sony for another brand? Guess what people are going to do...
Behind the screen technology fits to what I said - it's operated from the screen/glass area. I don't have a problem with technology but with the location.

^it would take forever for that technology to be implemented by Sony. I would not mind the fingerprint scanner on the side. In fact, i am glad sony is considering putting this in their phones. |

Between fingerprint scanner on the side or no scanner at all, I'd choose the second option. At least it won't meddle with the design. |

When Sony changed the position of power button from top to side, everyone was complaining, but later... every body felt that it's more effective in the side...
I'm not saying that it will be better than front... because I don't know... what I'm saying is don't judge from now for what it would be... try first then judge...
be sceptical for the idea, but don't judge for a thing that you did not test your self...

If they can put the fingerprint sensor on the power/unlock button then it'd be fantastic. I hope it's still possible to be done on a thinner phone though. |

^Qualcomm already announced the SD820 and it was rumored several times that Sony will use it for the future Xperia Z IF it doesn't get delayed. |
