Kinda Off-Topic: A worthy Xperia Ultra Successor

LeTv Max: Display: 6.33-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560-pixel) display
System chip: Qualcomm Snapdragon 810
RAM, storage: 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB internal storage
Cameras: 21-megapixel main camera f /2.0 with OIS, dual-tone flash, Sony IMX230 sensor, ‘Ultrapixel’ (4MP) front camera, 3400mAh battery
Extras: rear fingerprint sensor, WiHD connectivity, USB-Type-C

Add a microSD slot and you have a killer phone (specs-wise). Sony's Q4 2015 flagship devices should feature the same or even better specs.

^Same story with Oppo in 2013. They had the Exmor RS sensor in Oppo Find 7 before Sony does

That design is a knock off. Specs are nice but I don't like the htc design. Quality is good but curvy phones don't seem so cool to me. For the record, androidorigin is not so trustworthy. They said Z4 Ultra would be released and now they are claiming Z5 ultra will be released. That guy reads stuff from xda forum and esato forum then writes what he likes. January release don't make any sense. Since note 5 and iphone 7 will sweep the market. November release is more likely. Qualcomm better not spoil things again. If someone from Sony design team reading this, please do not make a phone with a curvy back like HTC.

Not a nice design, looks like they took certain features from certain manufacturers then created this mish-mash. Interesting about the sensor although I wouldn't expect it on the Z3 Neo. To be honest, who would buy a Z3 Neo anyway if a proper Z4/Z5 is supposedly just round the corner. Unless it's a lot cheaper than everything else I just don't see the point. Even if the Z3 Neo turns out to be better than the S6, people won't be interested. I say just ditch it and give us the Z4/Z5 with a new design, new camera sensor to make it look like a big step forward. Cut the Z3 price and the Z3 Compact which is still the best in it's little niche and make the most of those sales.

I doubt it, in most 90% chance it will be 32GB...

but next one (the rumoured Z4 or Z5); maybe, I give it a 50% chance...

Sadly Sony is conservative about internal storage, I only remember having 32GB on two devices, Xperia S & Xperia Z3v in which Xperia S did not have any microSD, and Z3v is made for Verizon which means they requested it with this storage...
When every body moved to have options like 16GB and 32GB ( and some 64GB also ), they stick with 16GB only.
When companies started to increase it more like 32GB and 64GB ( and some 128GB ), we heard news about having 32GB only.

^^ nice to read another supportive info. about "possible delay of z5 devices to 2016 for s820" - no way. they will announce z4, z4c and z4u at ifa and launch all a short time after it for sure. this is no brainer imo, especially after the small update is more of a z3 variant. it would be suicidal trying to survive with this small update until a q2 launch 2016 just for s820. they may just get improved version of s810 in q3 prototypes if s820 won't be ready for this year.

Z4 at IFA? What for? It won't be any different than Z3 Neo and it would stay on the market just for a few months before they'll show a new device with SD820. It just makes no sense. SD820 will be available between Q4 2015 and Q1 2016.

@penguino
A completely new snapdragon does not make or break a flag. z3 with s801 against note 4, nexus 6, droid turbo, s5 lte-a with s805 is a worthy rival. here is how you differentiate the q4 flag from this coming flag update without s820:
a new design, better camera software, new camera hardware - imx230, ois, two tone flash ,etc., fingerprint scanner, 4gb of ram, a newer s810, usb type c, audio enhancements, higher quality stereo speakers, more battery life, new software features, new 64gb internal storage option, a new z phablet with main and compact.
even if you take out some of the listed features it would still be considered a big update.
at most, they could delay one of the z devices to mwc 2016 (ces is ruled out as it is electronics event, not mobile). let's see: delay ultra? not likely as they don't have a phablet since 2013, delay compact? with the great reaction it got from reviewers and consumers? not likely. delay main? this z3 neo can carry them until april next year? risky. they don't seem to put a lot of effort in this smaller update - same camera, still omnibalance, s810 overheating rumors, etc.
bottom line is: they must at least announce 2 new z smartphone at ifa, be it main, compact and or ultra. better announce all 3 and delay tablet compact to mwc 2016.

New Snapdragon is very important. We're talking about a flagship where numbers matter the most. Plus SD810 has bad PR. Don't forget that Z4/5 is supposed to stay on the market for the whole year and stay competetive - SD810 is not enough for that. There will be no newer 810. Yes, all those other features are important but SoC is one of the most important out of them.

It doesn't matter wether CES is a mobile event or not, it seems that Sony may go back to old times where they were announcing their new mobiles on their own conferences. Showing one flagship at IFA and leaving the other two for later makes no sense fot two reasons. First - splitting the family makes no sense because all the sizes should be as close as possible, including their hardware. Second - that's why thay're making Z3 Neo, to keep up for more than just 4 months.

Your argument is weak imo and i find very little reason to agree. s820 alone is a bad reason to delay a flag by half a year considering that sony is bleeding and may not survive another year, z3 and z3c with s801 sold great and had a great reception despite weak marketing and carrier availability, s805 devices have not sold more because they have it but because manufacturers advertise them, put them in a lot of carriers, etc, sony did not put much efforts in this coming "weak spec" small update flag so you are actually contradicting yourself, and they can't rely on it to survive until next year q2-3 launches, we don't know if there won't be a newer s810.
It is important to announce flags at a mobile show so you get the most coverage by the media and you have something to show against your competitors, for these reasons basically no manufacturers likely to announce mobile flag at ces. sony is not likely to go back to their own conferences, there is no hint for that. they are likely to announce the 3 devices at ifa and not delay them because as i wrote above this relatively "weak spec" update wont carry them until q2-3 next year. it even has the same number as last year - 3, so it would be a terrible idea anyway in terms of consumers reception that expect something newer this year.
we care here about the list of improvements i listed above more then s820 and i have no doubt that sony and qualcomm will work together to fix s810 for q4 launches so they will be as competitive. read this whole thread. people are bitching here day and night about weak camera software, old camera hardware, no new design, no new true flag phablet, etc. if sony does not offer a new flag in main, compact and phablet people here and anywhere are going to jump ship to note 5, lg coming note rival, s6, chinese flag devices, etc. and even to iphone 6s/6s plus i bet. for sony there may not be next year.

Galaxy S6 edge= New Aluminium and glass design+ Ufs 2.0+ 14nm soc+dual edge screen
Zenphone 2= Flagship performance on a budget price
Lg g4= 16mp with wide f1.8 aperture
LeTV One=USB type c+ 21-megapixel main camera with OIS, dual-tone flash, new Sony IMX230+ 4GB LPDDR4 RAM
Xperia Z4=????

If Z4 only comes with a new processor, thinner design and exposed micro-USB I see no reason to upgrade
