Wireless charging?
Phase detection on sensor AF?
Did you notice any heating problems when you handled it? |

In comparison to my Z3 the Z4 is the same hight but it's thinner and not as wide, it also feels lighter but not by much maybe a few grams or so. Not sure on wireless charging but the phone does focus quicker than my Z3 but I'd say no to phase detection.

It's between 6.8 and 6.9 mm hard to tell to be honest although it's definitely less than 7mm

Fellow Esato members here is the Nano Sim/Micro SD card tray from the Z4, very clever way of removing another port keeping wear and tear down to a minimum on the port cover.

why call it Z4 when there's not much substantial improvement except in front camera & soc? Are there any noteworthy feature that really differentiate it from Z3? thanks for the reply
I think they should just call it Z3s instead of Z4 although it's the same case with M9 and S6

A USB port without a flap, New front camera, New CPU, Better image processing.
Seem like it is worthy for me to change from Z1 to this new flagship anyway. (I don't care about naming)
...Yeah use the single tray to hold two card is very clever idea. Love it !!

Type-C or regular microUSB? Do you know if it's 2.0 or 3.0?

Thanks XperiaJunkie!! I love you! Keep it comming, and btw, i don't think that it will be xperia Z3s or sth. It would be a big mistake, it's surely xperia Z4. But i wonder why there are no leaks regarding xperia z4 compact, and maybe xperia Z4 ultra...well, it's in the works, but i think that it will come unfortunately later than z4... pity

AFAIK, There's a huge demand on Type-C ports, and it seems that currently only few companies actually make these duo to the fact most of parts manufacturers did not expect the new port to go wild this fast...
Even thought I'll hope to see Sony jump into Type-C as soon as possible a head of every body else... I think we wont see this till at least 2H15...
The other problem is now Sony is moving to water proof port, and regular Type-C has very limited supply, so waterproof version will take even longer I think... unless Sony is secretly doing some work behind everybody else... which is very unlikely...
Any way, we have four scenarios that we just can't confirm...
1- Next flagship is Z4 in mid-year, the next is Z5 in late 2015.
2- Next flagship is Z4 in mid-year, real flagship will be Z5. but in 1Q16.
3- Next flagship is Z4 and in Sept/Oct timeframe... there might be a device next May but it will only be an updated Z3 ( see next scenarios)
4- Sony isn't ditching the two flagships per year, they will just put an updated one after 6 months from the main flagship, so flagship each year with update in between... like Z3 in Oct 14, Z4 in Oct 15.. and Z3x in the middle at April/May

Yet another confirmation for what the majority of the rumors say by another xda member (jonmorris) related to sony: the device that xperiajunkie got a hold of is the smaller update and the bigger update will be announced at ifa. the naming of the smaller update whether it is called z3_ or z4 or whatever doesn't really matter, read page 45: http://forum.xda-developers.c[....]eria-z4-thread-t2945351/page45
i would rate it as xr4-5 - at least very high chance of being correct.
so in other words, bigger updates like imx230, etc. most likely are for the october release main flag.

I'm unable to find out which sensor is being used in the Z4 as the normal short codes for the camera firmware doesn't work. Anybody know of any other way?
UPDATE ON WIRELESS CHARGING
The Z4 may support wireless charging after all. Just been told that when put on a charging plate, the plate lights up suggesting it's compatible without an additional case. Other Xperia devices such as Z1c, T and Z3 all failed to have the same response from the plate. The Z4 however didn't charge but I think it maybe disabled on the device but the fact the plate responded to the Z4 is positive.
