M4 Aqua is nice, but very overpriced. It should be 50€ less, so 249€ maximum! |

Depends on which half of a given year a product is released. If its in H1, it will have an even number, if it is in H2 it will have an odd number. If an iteration of a phone skips a half-year it will skip to the next number.
That may change this year, if they slim down their product porfolio and only release an updated product once a year.
I personally think Sony should forget about volume and focus on profitability. Cut down product R&D and portfolio to just the high end products which have high profit margins. Similarly to Apple, they can make the previous year's flagship the "mid range option" and the flagship from 2 years ago the "low end option" - by that point production costs should have dropped enough to keep the margins high, even at a lower price. That way they can avoid directly competing in the low-margin, cut-throat market the Chinese OEM's are starting to dominate. As a whole I imagine the previous years flagship offered at a lower price would probably represent better value than a dedicated cheap device, but that's hard to say with any degree of certainty - consumer preferences are difficult to map.
Make the Xperia brand synonymous with quality. Sony as a whole used to be the by-word for the absolute best in consumer electronics. They need to bring that back.

After S6's announcement , I believe the Z4 should for sure have the following
-Retain water/dust proof
-64GB Internal Memory option + Expandable
-Fingerprint Sensor
-Magnetic Charger
-QHD screen
-Retain Stereo Speakers
-Improved camera algorithm+OIS
If they can get these into it, I don't mind if the Z4 looks exactly the same as Z3 even

M4 aqua is not so attractive at 299 euros... sony forgot or think consumers got short memory to not remember z1 is selling for 345 euros at amazon france for example? also lg g2 is selling at amazon fr for the same z1 price. what would you prefer? z1/g2 for 40-45 more euros or m4 aqua? i prefer z1>g2. both are superior devices overall. by the time m4 aqua start selling z1 and g2 is even likely to match its price.
z1 345 euros: http://www.amazon.fr/gp/offer[....]ondition=new&mv_color_name=all
g2 339 euros (32gb version. 16gb costs less): http://www.amazon.fr/gp/offer[....]_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new
i'm not sure if selling it for 250 euro would help as sony would sell it at a loss probably. i just don't see a reason to favor it over z1. it seems like their best option is just to ignore the mid range market or at least just have m4 aqua. they differently should not announce other mid range devices. m4 aqua is a nice device and i guess that as a company you got to refresh your line of devices to make some buzz and media attention and show to consumers that you have something new to offer, but really, z1 is better. sony just got beaten by their own 1.5 years old z1 flag but that is inevitable i guess.

maybe wait for the z5 now lol, S820 has "Sense ID 3D Fingerprint Technology, the tech uses ultrasonic waves to penetrate through the outer layers of your finger to build a three-dimensional map of your fingerprint" AND "The Sense ID scanner recognizes sweat glands and the layers of your fingerprint ridges. But more impressive is that it works through metal, plastic, and glass, so it can be installed differently in a phone than under the glass plates that fingerprint scanners are currently placed."
no excuse to not include this in the Z5, but Sony is always late in the game, who knows if they are still around to build the Z6. lol

the 820 should be in devices either late 2015 or more likely 2016. this also depends if they will use TSMCs or sammie's lines since I feel samsung got the hang of 14nm, no idea if TSMC has pulled off 16nm on their line for full mass producton. I would still only expect 810 or 815 for the Z4, it all depends when it will be set to debut, if it is in Q2, then 810, if in Q3 then perhaps maybe 815.
@Ranjith, 64gb base if a bit of an overkill, 32gb is more likely. This doesn't mean a 64gb option should not be offered but then with no micro-sd slot on the S6, sammie had to offer higher capacity models.
Will be interesting what sony will bring to the table with the Z4, at this moment the competition have shown their cards and while good, sony can show higher cards and win but will they have the guts? |

What I've heard is that Qualcomm will use FinFET from Samsung/GlobalFoundries joint on FinFET... that will start with 14nm...
But if they will go for TSMC version of FinFET, then it will be 16nm...
But guys if you remember that leaked Qualcomm roadmap
there was 815 positioned before 820 with these spec.
815
- Octa core big.little on Qualcomm own design ( 4xTS1i + 4xTS1 )
- Adreno 450
- LPDDR4
- 20nm
820
- Octa core TS2 Core, 64bit
- Adreno 530
- LPDDR4
- 14nm
So, if Qualcomm announced 820, where's 815 ? did they scrapped it, or it's not the flagship so no need to announce it now...

smart alarm is kind of useless as it doesn't add anything more than what google offers in android with google now. i guess the only benefit would be privacy from google? but that depends how it works and most likely it uses your google calendar anyway.
kind of reminds me of a haroharo alarm i used to have over 10 years ago.. from the gundam anime series.
