@Bonovox
I'm talking about video stabilization.
In video recording the digital SteadyShot is much more stable than the 2 axis OIS + software combo in G3/G2. |

Indeed! The stabilization is very convincing...
Colours and low light shots looking also better on the Z3. Only focus is maybe a bit slow and soundquality?!

The problem is SteadyShot doesn't work as well for stills and most of the time people take more photos than videos... |

For the G3, I think its due to the fact that it is using 2-axis OIS and not 3-axis OIS like on Nokia devices. But still, SteadyShot is definitely on par or better than the best OIS implementation.
This shot looks pretty impressive I guess the new G Lens is pretty high quality, unlike the crap G Lens on Z1 and Z2.

Have to admit that this shot does look very impressive, let's hope that the retail units are just as good.

Why would they want to decrease the quality? |

Because that's something we've seen happen in the past. The Xperia Z1 pre release photos posted by Mobile-Review were mind blowing, but the retail units really disappointed.
So I'm hoping that won't be the case this time with the Z3. |

Those shots are so impressive. One of the cleanest Indoor shots I have seen. Things with my Note 3 tend to look quite smeary when taking shots in dim condition.

I hope we see more samples soon. If the camera is indeed very good then I might consider the Z3. But of course, I'll take a look at the iPhone 6 first. If it doesn't come with a vastly improved camera then I guess I'll just get the Xperia Z3.
It's convincing that Apple will buy Sony 1/2.3' inch customs sensor for iPhone 6 but decrease few megapixels to 13MP. It will be a combo of best hardware and best software processing together this time,
Anyway, XZ3 is my priority choice as I don't care about Android initiate to 2K/64bit era. Maybe a grab iPhone 6s next coming year if it fully adopt 64bit processing.

Perhaps it's because SONY doesn't want to kill their compact camera business? |

Not like Sony is investing much into said compact line, I don't even remember the last time a new compact was released with something to catch one's eye. If I were to go for a compact, I'd save up the cash and get an RX100 even the first model, or 2nd, 3rd model is a tad expensive but still would over much superior photos.
Some of the phone arena shots are still blurry in areas where they should not be, I thought this was down to camera shake but then other parts of the image are in focus.
I have no idea how many compacts sony still sells but i doubt it is anywhere near as much as a few years back. If sony was smart they should migrate over more and more tech from the compacts to their xperia line. |

Having such high ISO setting on a smartphone camera will make horrible images. Would never use anything that high ISO wise

Although I agree, such high iso is probably not the best choice for photos, but having the option for such a high iso is always good to have, regardless if you will use it or not. |
