What's the deal with audio recording on Z3, is it really this bad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h34IRPCMGAA

and, is it realy this best https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0FRE5WgMbo#t=29

Video, the link that you bet, iPhone fans concluded

I'm not sure what you're trying to prove with the video you linked to, but here's another comparison that confirms that audio recording on the Z3 is very harsh and thin, almost no bass at all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90eUbWf_9xQ

About audio quality of Z3, I made some test today using different audio settings. And I found a flaw in Sony stereo sound, they somehow screwed sound algorithm, what happens is the sound recorded by mics is very good, but when they mix that into stereo, it's crap. You can find out by yourself, just download the videos from youtube posted here, for example the one from concert iPhone 6 vs Z3. Then force the sound from right microphone, I did that using VLC player (right click on video -> sound -> stereo -> right) suddenly you get the bass, the difference is HUGE!

So it looks like Z3 has the good microphones, only the software for recording video is screwed up, new software update is coming, if it won't help I'll report this to Sony, hopefully they can get this fixed... (Tomorrow I will check sound from video recording with google camera and a dictaphone, see if it's also screwed up there)

As for the audio settings, with auto the results are very good, only a little distortion with high volume bass, I would change it to low sensivity only when recording concerts etc, and leave auto for the rest.

Yeah I just did that. With third party sound recorder app the sound quality is very good, it's recorded in mono so no problem

I also tried with google camera app (yeah I said I will do it tomorrow but I was impatient...) it also record in stereo, and the reulst is the same as Sony camera app. The stero sound is shitty, but mono turns out fine. Now let's wait for the update (should be coming in few days) I hope they fix it.

EDIT:
If anyone's interested, here's a 20 sec video and a 20 sec recording from third party app of the same music at same volume:
video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s7t[....]2014-10-23%2016.15.43.mp4?dl=0
recording: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qek[....]2323-10-2014_18-16-15.mp3?dl=0

The audio setting was set to low sensivity, also my PC speakers are kind of crappy, so have that in mind

I've had a couple of moans (cheap non-noise cancelling headphones and my magnetic charger not working), but the Z3 really is an amazing phone. I keep hammering it and yet the battery has never failed to last two days. Had nearly 3.5 with lighter use. It's zippy and I love the screen. A worthwhile upgrade from the Z1.

Oh man!
Half a day with it and i'm loving!
It's so slim and comfortable to hold that i can't explain!

The screen is excellent, the UI is smooth as silk, the camera seems faster and better in all ways comparing to Z2 and the battery is superb!
I'm playing with it to drain this thing but the battery don't wanna go down!
Phone came with 80% of charge and i have now 62% with f#ck!ng 03:22 hours of screen on!
Worth every penny!

I can sell my Z2 now without doubts!

Camera is not that smooth AFAIK, the viewfinder smoothness on it is running sub 30fps, compared to 60 on the Z2, it leaves a bad impression, hopefully they'll fix it.

There's something wrong with your Z3.
The viewfinder keep the framerate high even at low light.
Tried manual ISO and all scenes, everything ok.

What's the version of your Z3?
Mine is D6653. (32GB, single SIM)

@Luca-S
I think what he said was true in this video you can see that the viewfinder on the Z3 a bit more laggy than the Z1.

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iHtm7YqYFjQ

But if your Z3 did not experience the same thing, it means there is something wrong with alexander87 Z3 and the Z3 in the video.

I have endured the lagginess for over three years now with my two different Galaxy Notes.
Perhaps that's the way Sony will be doing it from now on in order to make the battery performance great.
