This is truly a great device. Hope to see more devices from Nokia and not from CrapMS.

Microsoft bought the whole devices and services segment of the company along with most of the same people who designed and built Nokia smartphones for years.. so you will be getting the same phones, just under a different name.. unfortunately.

The 1520 is indeed their best effort since 2011/2012

MWC should be good as well.. and the Microsoft Build conference as well. I expect WP 8.1 devices at both events.. not sure about MWC but 100% for Build.

Nothing in general, but faces are so grainy, colours are off. And in general, I don't like how the images look, typical Lumia overprocessed look.

I am using the phone since 2 months and some features are really impressive such as
32GB of inbuilt storage
Free lifetime worldwide voice-guided navigation
Wireless charging with optional accessories
1.3MP front-facing camera

etc.

Lumia photos aren't overprocessed at all for me.
And Z1 suffers from lack of detail, sometimes vegetation looks lke it's made out from tiny blocks, it is mush grainier than Lumia shots.
And Lumia has more detail.
Just an opinion.

I think its much better since the Black update .. otherwise I agree with you.

The 1520 is the first Windows Phone that has decent IQ out of the box.

A friend has one, battery life really is amazing, not only in a test, but in daily use aswell.

It has a 3300mAh battery it better be amazing at that size and capacity!!

6" is way too big for me, I'm still trying to find 5"+ to be reasonable. Also curious how the Quadcore performance is in WP8.1 considering it really didn't needed it; as in how is browsing, games, word editing, multitasking, etc?? BB10 is another OS that doesn't require quadcore so any major boost like what WP8.1 did I'm hoping BB does but doubtful. Is there any specific good news on WP9?

No mobile OS actually NEEDS Quad core, I think the Moto X, Moto G, Galaxy Mega 6.4 etc... prove that.

In my mind the G is using the same setup as the Mega 6.3, my bad, well both Moto X and Mega 6.3 are good Android dual-cores, heck even the Samsung Google Nexus 10 is a great dual-core with its Exynos 5 Dual CPU.

Great article on mobiles vs dslrs , etc

http://connect.dpreview.com/p[....]phones-versus-dslr-versus-film

featuring the 1020.

"When I first saw the images from the Nokia Lumia 1020, I did a double take. Clear and crisp, lots of detail and super strong colors that you’ll either love or wince at. I loved them. And did I mention the detail? After years of seeing bigger cameras perform better, I couldn’t believe that a tiny plastic and glass Zeiss lens could resolve so much from the center to the edge of the image. It was close to the Nikon D800. I was stunned. I’ll list the shortcomings of the Nokia below, but first, some more stand-out results."
