@goldenface What's doing well is their sensor division and mirrorless division. Not their point and shoot product, minus the RX series. |

Sony will only deliver RX & QX series in the future.
Z3's carema development has been highly involved by Sony's camara department. |

Nice battery life results, but talk-time seem a bit odd Z1C with smaller battery lasted longer

Sony will not debut a flagship phablet exclusively at ces (electronic show) right before mwc which is the biggest mobile show of the year... z ultra was more like an experiment for hardcore/tablet users. the next ultra will surely show with z4 and z4 tablet or not show at all in first half. |

Can anyone explain how Android L new camera API is going to change/help camera quality?
Is it just more camera controls to app devs? |

please take notice GSMarena unit is using very old prototype build so it might even get better than that |

2K or 4K resolution screen is waste of battery and time, you won't see any different between a 5.2 1080p or 2K or 4K screen with your eyes, Sony already said that last time otherwise they have already implemented it in their device. |

Very interesting news. Would you happen to know when they plan to implement this new move? CES or earlier?
I wonder if this could possibly, finally mean we'll see xenon or equivelant flashes on an Xperia device again! |

Only...?
I find that remarkably hard to believe given the success of their mirrorless bodies. Unless the QX1 sells by the boatload, I would find it remarkably foolish to just stick to the RX and QX. The former is silly, but plausible, but resting your faith purely in the unproven QX line....I dunno. |

He's talking about their point and shoot Cybershot division, not the Alpha range.
If they are going this route, I hope they eventually built in a hardware connection between future QX cameras and future Xperias. Doing this via wifi is fine, but still has lag and chews away at battery life. If they can add a hardware connection between the two devices (evolution of the magnetic charging port?) then they can possibly get performance and response time that's comparable to actual P&S devices.

Actually, it has been done for a while. So you won't see any product other than RX & QX any longer. |

Very interesting, thanks for the reply.
VERY hopeful this means we'll see rapid advances in the mobile camera division. Curved camera sensors are hopefully just the beginning.
Funny enough, this almost makes the Z3x rumours seem more realistic! lol
Here's hoping for a ludicrously good CES and MWC! |
