I personally really don't envy sony designers (well i do!) because they need to outdo themselves every time and in my opinion it is very challenging to outdo such a great design of z3. the radical change in design that some people call for could be:
1. metal chassis with ultra slim top and bottom bezel and as a result thicker profile (like g3 or sharp aquos line of flags), be it arc design or not, and say goodbye for 7.3mm, add at least 10-15mm.
2. metal chassis with evolved z3 design.
both options should satisfy consumers imo and bring fresh look to the design. obviously option one brings more radical changes but evolution is not bad. both got pluses and minuses. hard for me to choose but i will go with option 2.
i'm curious to know what option would any of you like more?

Since the first Xperia Z till yet same design... I wanna see the legendary arc design back!

Arc looks decent, but is sub-optimal. Why have that arc, when you could make it flat and fit in a larger battery?

People seem to think that Sony can design whatever they want and make it happen. Physics are still at play. They need to fit the Motherboard, the camera module, the battery, the vibration motors, the dual speaker drivers and amps. And they need to do so in a way that is neat and thermally efficient.

BTW: What happend to that "cybershot" Xperia? Some insider here on esato said that he saw a phone with a big camera lens at the back.

If I'm not mistaken it would have kinda looked like this.

I do not remember this post but this may be a long shot. Perhaps this insider saw the QX line of lens cameras on a phone? Or a prototype of the QX line?

Or just bullshit like many other post regarding "new design" or even a return of the arc shape which we have seen in this thread

Someone clearly forgot how physics work.

Oh if I remember it right, this was from a prototype for Z1 that maiaramdan allegedly saw while claiming specs that were just ridiculous bullcrap like a Yota-like E-ink rear display and dual-OS sh*t. And this was one of the few reasons of the drama that took place in the 2013 rumors thread.

i am really hoping for a new design. omnibalance is way overused by now.

I disagree. Xperia Z was introduced in Feb 2013. Merely a year and a half. I think omnibalance stands serious and sleek.

I too like the omnibalance design. It was done well to get mostly positive reviews and looks great to me too. As much as I like the Arc and the Xperia T, TX and V designs they didn't give off the same quality.

If you look carefully you'll notice that the above prototype has an interdimensional portal on the front face, linked to galaxies that do not adhere to the laws of physics, and are far outside human understanding (apart from Sony's engineers). This easily explains the xenon flash and telescopic lens.[*]

good concept = realistic concept, one that can be made in reality considering a portable device dimensions and internals, etc. these two are... not.

Really? I thought it's DC division was doing well. Or is this a strategic decision.

They should have done that a long time ago. The DC industry is dying so not that surprising for me.
