I don't see whats wrong as long as the C3 is a decent device for its price. Selfies are the 'in' thing and there are many ppl who buy mid end phones just by some fancy features...it might as well as be "seflies"

Its a mediocre phone for stupid people. I doubt they have the perception to really care about any of the technical details. probably too busy oogling pictures of themselves. Even if the C3 has a poor flash and poor sensor, its not going to be any worse than competing devices at this stage.
Either way, I don't really care much about it. |

Does that mean the back has some sort of touch sensitive area? Or is it a hack on measuring proximity, therefore, registering a 'tap' on the rear camera? Perhaps it employs a separate proximity sensor?
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

when sony releases something as stupid as this BEFORE samsung, you know they are desperate. |

Probably a twist on the double tap to wake feature we see on the Xperia tabs. Double tap using a sensor that recognises a vertical posture of the handset?

^ it should be fairly easy to port over to existing hardware since 8.1 doesn't need to hardware buttons on the front anymore. |

I can't wait to see the new design.
I guess the UI also gets a fresh look (Android L-ish).

You people aren't getting this straight. This is a phone aimed at certain markets where there is a big deal about this, and can actually be used as a strong marketing point. This is the successor to the C, so it's also aimed at China, where they apparently sold really well. And I guess it's aimed at the youth. Thus, complain all you want, no one cares because you aren't the targeted demographic. |

^Indeed. The selfie trend is really big right now, no matter how stupid people think it is. This is a niche device, so people should not really expect too much about this. Unless it was marketed like as a flagship device, the "wtf sony" reactions are nonsense.

And Chinese girls are really big on selfies. I see girls literally everyday spending every minute taking selfie after selfie with the same duck pout and puffed out cheeks. It was cute for about 30 seconds.

The C3 front camera with soft LED makes sense to me, I've had many times in a nightclub where we want to take a group selfie and use the rear camera and that is always hit or miss, while the front camera is just crap.
Some say this is narcissistic but that really depends, I can bet that everyone here has had to take a selfie at some point, if I meet some one new on a night out for example it's very common to want to take a selfie with them and capture that moment, now if you're taking selfies making duck faces and pouting (especially guys) then that is kinda taking it far
Nice move Sony, if promoted properly this can sell bucket loads, it reminds me of the LG Chatterbox that came in when IM was becoming very popular, that phone was one of LG's best moves, it wasn't much but it fed a trend and got people very aware of LG as a serious phone maker.
