Like the lady in Asphalt seven says, impressssive!

As for the S5 seems both phones are running similarly in benchmark tests with the S5 only at slightly ahead at times.

Even though I own this phone and shoot videos at 4K from time to time, I still get baffled whenever I watch the videos.
My friends also get amazed by its quality.

Yes, and it doesn't overheat when filming 4K video unlike a certain new Sony we know of

Proof that Samsung are FAR superior at optimization. It's quite funny as the Z2 has the newer S801 yet the Note 3 has the older S800 but it manages a lot better. The Galaxy S5 also handles 4K recording with ease but that is understandable with its S801 AC.

Seriously? Did he just compared downsampled 4k video to native 1080p video? No wonder note 3 had sharper images (although Canon had better details in shadows and more fine detail) but in this kind of comparison it couldn't be any different. He should have compared 1080p to 1080p then. Nothing more to say.

About overheating when recording in 4k in Sony. Didn't you wonder why Samsung makes video stabilization unavailable when in 4k in both Note 3 and S5? Maybe it is too much for the phone to handle? Maybe it would make the phone overheat due to additional work needed for the calculations?
And yet Sony managed to include very efficient digital stabilization carried from their DSLT's even in 4k mode. Yes, it suffers from overheating but at least the video is usable and less jerky than the one from S5 and note3. That does make sense and has nothing to do with optimization.

I think the point of the article is the good quality of video recording for Note 3. I wouldn't think it does a better job than a Canon camera but I am glad it is so capable

@wishmaster89 there's nothing jerky about my Note 3 4K video. That can be down to user error as I have steady hands

@aussieland1
My point is that with this kind of comparison I could take the cheapest fullHD recording smartphone downscale the footage and compare it too 640x360 video recorded by 10x more expensive DSLR and get same results as with this comparison. It's almost like comparing DVD to VHS and saying that when downscaled to VHS resolution DVD footage is better. Shocking, right?

@Bonovox
Sorry, Bonovox didn't want to suggest that your videos are jerky. What I meant was that thanks to the stabilization that was included in Sony user can achieve acceptable results when Note3/S5 could be too shaky to watch. It's one of those things one appreciates when needed. And probably that is why Sony happens to overheat after more than 5 minutes of recording (CPU is doing the calculations needed for stabilization) and when using AR (GPU is used for 3D object generations), neither of those are present on Samsung and LG and that is why they don't overheat as fast.

The Note 3 videos are outstanding even without stabilization.

And am I denying it? I never said that it has poor quality video or that without stabilization you can't record good quality video.

I'm just saying that this whole comparison was flawed from the start and this whole talk about Note 3 beating 5D Mark III is rubbish. I'm not talking about opinions presented in posts here but about webpages saying how the Samsung showed better results than much more expensive full frame DSLR.

Excellent

Samsung have been rolling out bugfix updates for GS4, Note 3 and GS5 these last few weeks, my battery life has seen quite a nice bump and I see the GS3, Note 2 and Note 10.1 KitKat updates are now rolling out, they've been very busy it seems.
