IMO 808 beats Z1 in daylight but Z1 beats 808 in low light

Btw, Xperia Z1 is the king of smartphone full hd video recording. It even beats 808 and 1020. Just see on youtube

Wow...just wow. To my eyes, Z1 is better then the rest especially in low light.

It's amazing what it can do with manual settings! They really need to work on that auto-mode.

I am in the same boat. As far as I know, T-mobile doesn't have LTE launched in Boston area, but there are plans for future rollouts pretty soon. Nice to hear At&t is also expanding it's service, but At&t's signal, coverage and speed is already much better than T-mobile. Hope I can grab the C6906 unlocked for cheap in Oct with a dock, bluetooth speaker, and the watch for free

Yup I also think Z1 outshines 808 here. Imagine Nokia-size sensor were to fit into Honami...

Moogoo, I care very much about your person plight, lol. I'm a Philly guy myself (although I work up in NY) and this will be my first time looking into an unlocked device and venturing away from Verizon, so any help is greatly appreciated.

ugh.. damnit sony. proto HW is not doing anything justice, if thats the issue at all. im leaning towards waiting again.. no appropriate 128GB storage, 24 bit Audio functionality, no 4K (or 60fps 1080p), and the effing screen is still miserable. not just the viewing angles but the blacks, the washout, its just above par tech (not acceptable)... Sony had an 11" OLED years and years ago (it wasnt full 1080p) but it wasnt pentile either. they are market leaders wrt TVs.. probably pioneered the viewing angle (178*) statistic... i get that the refresh rate is high, but my word at least get the blacks under control. how you can pair that cam sensor with 16GB is beyond irrational to me... esp when you CANNOT offload apps. they should really let ppl customize their storage options.

i really don't understand why sony is sticking with that kind of display. it still fails to compete with the top dogs. it only damages the triluminos branding. does that type of screen offer any advantage? if i remember it right, the z ultra has better viewing angles but it's not very bright and contrast ratio is also relatively low.

does that display last longer? does it minimize power consumption? why do they keep using that kind of display? really disappointing. even the one they used in the malaysian launch suffered that kind of problem.

i really hope the retail versions will be different.

Carphone Warehouse store today. I guess we are all now so used to larger phones they just don't seem large anymore. I don't think the Z1 is big at all.

irksome, generally irksome especially at $900. i hate waiting, year after year.. all that camera and they forgot the rest. ffs

I feel the screen looks great on the Z1, sure the phone is expensive but the price will fall as with all phones.

I'm just shocked it is coming out so soon here and take back what I wrote in the ZU thread that it would take forever to get to market.

I think the screen looks fine here.
The viewing angles might not be as good as the best HTC or iPhone but they are respectable.
The Z was unviewable when viewing from any of the top corners and the Z1 here seems to retain it's contrast as he circles around the phone.


From that angle the XZ/XL is a hazzy mess, the Z1 looks o.k thouh.
