.. so i just looked on sony's USA website and it says the latest firmware available is 14.4.A.0.108. which means i should get it. just have to wait..

You´re not alone. Sony Sweden says the same, but nobody here has got it.

Will there ever be a Z2 avatar?

so backing up on 4.3 means i can't restore on 4.4 via the backup app.. does PCC let you backup/restore from 4.3 to 4.4? I never tried it. but there's no point in backing up if i can't restore it.

After I started the phone today after updating, I automatically got a popup tha previous backups are now invalid. Please make a new backup.

So when the latest update finally hits your region, first do the update normally, make new backups as they will be valid then and then you can make a clean install if you wish...

Why won't sony add this feature to the Z1 and the higher end devices??

http://www.xperiablog.net/201[....]latest-xperia-kitkat-firmware/

It's not like my Z1 with 16GB internal memory has a lot of space ffs. This is just ridiculous but then why would one expect anything else but such a move if not from Sony.

Sony are brilliant at finding a way to piss off their premium users.

I'm sure they are busy working on an update that will bring that feature in the Z series, though it is surprising the Z1 didn't get it in its 4.4.4 update.

I've just updated. All is good. Definitely a bit snappier and back to how it was with 4.3.

Dunno if it's just because it's late, but the screen seems brighter. Not had chance to test the camera out yet.

Ironically, I'd get fed up of wait for O2 branded update to appear and downloaded a ftf for France this morning, but thankfully hadn't had time to install it.

It seems strange to me that the o2 and carrier updates seem to arrive before the unbranded updates.

Also. This update has sorted the camera out. So far, so good!

Damn... screen cracked again! Second time now and the phone is useless now

This is it for me with the xperia Z1, not going to repair it i think. The cost of a new screen etc (for the second time) is just to high. Maybe the OnePlus one is a nice alternative, or wait and see what the new Iphone will bring.

wow. crazy that you've cracked your screen twice. i've dropped my phone from heights of 3 feet or higher several times and all i've done is scuff/scratch the metal frame. i have notice there is about a half a milimeter of bowing on the frame on one side. i'm curious if this effects the waterproofing at all?

Anyway.. i also think it's weird that carrier branded models are getting updates while unbranded models are left to be last. I can understand if its an update that's specific for carrier models .. but if it's a global release, unbranded should go first! I guess it's a matter of sony serving their contract partners before they serve the little guys..

still waiting for my update.. sigh.

UPDATE: so i updated finally. seems to work great this time. even bluetooth connection seems a bit better. we'll see how battery life is after some good hard use. so far, i'm very pleased over the last update.
