Same here, 4.2.2 was the best/smoothest on Z1.
Current 4.4 software has a lot of bugs and hiccups. My phone reboots atleast once daily. 
Hoping a properly bugs fixed firmware will come soon. Please sony refine the software as good as 4.2 was... |

Reporting Bugs from 4.4 on Z1
- Walkman app stops if Chrome Browser opened. Also it stops on other selected apps.
- When pressed home button, the homescreen loads after 2-3 seconds.
- Sometimes Camera app does not open

Hmmm there seems to be lots of reports on xda and the Sony support forum of these bugs, if this release of KitKat is so buggy I wonder why Sony is continuing to release it?

Geez like, something very wrong with Sony's quality testing, some very serious bugs in the Z1 4.4 update, I just don't get why they struggle so much with releasing stable OS upgrades.

Guys if you have bugs, just perform software repair on the PCC. i have installed a clean installation and i haven't encounter bugs really... i just had the notification bug.

I was thinking of doing the same but seems I wanted to avoid the hassle of backup and restoring my data.
But today I finally did a reset and did a clean installation of the software and you are right now everything is much much much better. |

The same as Samsung does, always first but always troubles with lag and hangup, strange you does not mention your beloved Samsung. Don't pretend if Sony does testing quality is bad, look at your beloved Samsung first than complain here about Sony typical Samsung lover.
Second, i have kitkat on my Z1, i run smoother than Jelly bean, yes it will be fix soon for the people who has troubles with it.
But Samsung, don't even mention about it, they are the worst quality firmware upgrades.
Not every Sony Z1 user has problems with this update, while Samsung user all complain about it.
Why don't you go to your beloved samsung forum.

its 300zl here plus shipping so 60 pounds plus shipping, for pre-order for now. I'll wait for proper reviews or member reviews before I dive into it
