It's not a software issue. You need to get a replacement.

use a screen adjuster from the play store. if it fixes your issue then great, if not, then it's a hardware issue and you should get a replacement.

for me, what tint i had was fixed with the last update.

@randomuser - thanks for the comparison link. i was too lazy to really google for it ha. i stand by my original opinion.. Z1 > 1520

I did say I've been using a 3rd party app that does screen filter. But they're not as good as the white balance setting on Z/ZL (e.g. it doesn't filter the bottom part of the screen which contains the 3 main on-screen buttons, they sometimes reappear in the notifications panel even though it has been set not to do that and so on. These little things just bug me I'm sure you all understand what I mean.)

Good grief Vikeviki, you still don't have your Z1??? Someone at Sony is definitely having a good laugh. Best of luck, I hope you get it back before Christmas at least.

zxcorr

Take it back and demand a replacement, you bought your Z1 less than 14days ago, yeah?

well duh..

to be fair, it SHOULD win based on specs..

but some of those shots are just plain pathetic. the "photographer" was not very good and clearly was not comfortable with every single phone.

good to see Z1 holding its own but not a really fair test for any of the devices. seemed rushed like they just wanted to post something to update their blog.

@zxcorr - no you didn't say you were using a 3rd party filter app. and no there is no free app out there that adjusts white balance or gamma (that i know of). the free ones out there just add a color tint and for me, adding 4-5 of blue worked like a charm (when i had the issue). sounds like if that hasn't worked for you, then you have a different issue from what I had. take it back. you just got it. exchange it or return it. check the new one on the spot before leaving.

The 1520 doesn't even beat the Iphone 5S let alone the Z1

The difference is indeed very small and it all depends on your preference.. the Z1 seems sharper with more noise and the 1520 seems to exhibit less noise but the images are softer.

The manual controls, RAW support, OIS, and 4 HAAC microphones on the 1520 still hold an advantage in overall performance.. but like I said, in terms of IQ in auto mode I can see how one could pick either of them.

I mostly basing my opinion on processed RAW files from the 1520 where you can manipulate the image.. which isn't fair I suppose since we don't have access to the RAW data from the Sony sensor.

I can confirm that the screen of Z1 is lil bit yellowish, but it's okay, not so much like the Z Ultra screen. Z has real white.
I wouldn't notice it if I wouldn't compare them side by side...

@moogoo
You didn't understand me right. I meant the toggle bar when u open the status bar. This toggles have not the same background colour as the rest. It doesn't look good so, that can be fixed easy.

@emerson
Really? The 1020 win over Cam, but how about the rest of the phone? Windows phone! You can bring in direct to the garbage can... No chance vs any android device... You can better buy real cam instead any windows good cam phone.

@king-james - oh i understood you just fine. they are not black but neither are the notification elements that appear. the toggle buttons and the elements are the same "grey" and the rest are black. whether it looks good or not, is a matter of opinion. like i said, I like it how it is. if you wanna change it, go ahead. there are plenty of ways to do it

example:

as you can see. the toggle buttons and my twicca notification are the same whereas everything else is black. i'm guessing you'd want everything black, which is fine. i'm just saying it was a design choice and some may like it and others won't. the beauty of android is that you can change it to whatever you like!

and i can confirm my screen is no longer yellowish on my device without using a 3rd party adjuster. i guess those still having issues have some sort of HW problem? cause mine was fixed after the last update.

On yours it looks nice, weired, then it's on the Z ugly. :S
But I'd prefer if Sony could cut the words below...

I don't know what to do now with the Z1. One Z sold, Z1 stay or buy next... Using the Mega atm again.

I recommend the Z1! It's a very solid device, good materials, sexy design, good cam, the best Sony atm, no question. There is no HTC or Samsung which can beat it. The Nexus 5 is just faster, but that's it, it's naked.

But still I think, a 5,2" display would be nicer... But I'm looking for a bigger phone, need a 6" from Sony. Then I can leave from Mega.

@king-james - yours doesn't look like that? weird. i'm just using stock sony.

if you pay enough, maybe sony will make a custom 6" device JUST FOR YOU

actually, i think next year's Z Ultra will be sub 6". that's my guess though.

would have been nice if Z1 had a 5.2" display since the touch buttons do take up space. but it doesn't really bother me all that much.

I also using stock sony, original launcher.

I hope there will be a Z Ultra II. It's unclear I think. We don't know how many Ultra have sold yet. I have bad feeling...

Z1 has earned at least 5,2" display, but Sony didn't want. Also the size speaks for it.
