Quite a success there Personally I find the S IV better looking than the S III and I prefer functions and performance over looks The phone is made of polycarbonate and not plastic

So the S2 won't get Key Lime Pie then?? I thought that phone would handle it.

GS2 and the Note1 can probably handle KLP, but it won't be worth Samsung's time and money to update them I guess.
Its quite impressive how far Samsung have taken these phones though, both launched on 2.3.4 and 2.3.6 respectively in 2011, here we are 2years since the GS2 was unveiled and it is still going to receive another update from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 along with the Note1, the ONLY other 2011 Android to get this sort of support is the Samsung built Google Galaxy Nexus.
Can anyone even remember the GS2 and GNote competitors other than the iPhone4S? There was the Htc Sensation, Htc Sensation XE, Htc Evo 3D, LG Optimus 3D, LG Optimus 2X, SE Xperia Arc, SE Xperia Arc S, SE Xperia Play, Motorola RAZR and Motorla RAZR MAXX. Not one of them has passed ICS, you'd be considered crazy to buy one of those now, but fine if you get a GS2 or GNote, both of which continue to sell better than some of the latest Androids from other OEMs.

Because this is a Samsung Galaxy S3S thread, I won't go too off-topic, but it has to be said: Samsung, and pretty much every OEM except Sony, only care about their high-end products. Sony gave its entire 2011 line ICS (except the Play), most of its 2012 line will get jellybean (including a low-end) and in 2013, the first phone available with 4.2.2 will be a Sony.
Anyway, on-topic, was looking at hands-on reviews of the Xperia L (the low-end device) and it uses plastic, but the build-quality is good. A low-end device. Samsung should learn.
As has been said, Samsung are now even copying Apple with upgrades - very minor upgrades that is.
Have just seen some more SGS3S photos, admittedly, it the Galaxy flagship no longer looks like a simple panda. It now looks like a slightly more classy panda - the same effect a panda in a tuxedo would give.

A buggy ICS that never got fixed, yep. Comeback when the entire 2012 range has received this update, and big IF it doesn't get delayed for the 4.2.2 for the Z.
Samsung care about giving a great experience, they will not just throw an update at any device, as we saw with the SE phones of 2011, where SE even had to issue a warning admitting the ICS update is not well done.
Back to the Galaxy S4:
The Samsung Galaxy S 4 won't be the year's only hot smartphone
As you've probably heard already, the Samsung Galaxy S 4 got announced last week, destined to hit the shelves of all major wireless carriers you can think of. And knowing how well the entire Galaxy lineup has been selling, we're pretty sure that the company's newest flagship will be among the year's most sought-after devices. However, it looks like it will be facing some tough competition.
Right after the Galaxy S 4 announcement, we posted a poll asking you which high-end smartphone you were most tempted to purchase. Naturally, Samsung's pride and joy was on the list, yet it didn't quite get to the top spot. Out of a total of 10 190 participants, 2830 people (27.77%) chose the Nokia Lumia 920 as their favorite, followed by the Samsung Galaxy S 4 in second place with 2360 (23.16%) of the votes. The third spot goes to the HTC One, which collected 2237 votes (21.95%). Little love was given to the Sony Xperia Z, which received only 1212 votes (11.89%), and even less to the iPhone 5 with its 315 votes (3.09%).
So obviously there's a lot of people interested in the Samsung Galaxy S 4, but at this time, the Korean company's flagship just doesn't seem to have gotten enough traction to be considered the new alpha male in the smartphone jungle. There are other flagship smartphones that consumers find just as attractive, the HTC One and Nokia Lumia 920 being among the most capable competitors out there. Yet the ultimate vote will be cast by the buyers who will be voting with their wallets.

Very intriguing I must say certainly not a good indicator of how the market will react, we all know the iPhone5 will remain the best selling until the GS4 arrives, at the same time, the 920 has been around for a while and hasn't done much, the GS3 and iPhone5 continue to rip it apart in sales, but interesting to see how people feel.

It does indeed look better, I must say, but I agree, when it comes to a tool such as a smarphone, looks are less important than Functionality, eco system, update support, speed, fluidity and content, and Samsung continue to be the best at doing those the best in the Android arena, to think my GS3 will still be up to date next year as my GS2 is this year.
I can happily skip the GS4 and get a GS5 and not feel like I missed much, although I cannot wait to see what the Note3 will bring, heard talk of a 6.3inch device in the pipeline

A 6.3 inch phone?? Sorry that's too big. Anyway this article clearly says it's a let down. Thinking back now the first Galaxy S phone had the best build quality of all of them. As for the Xperia L it's not low end it's mid range. I wouldn't call a phone with a 4.3 inch screen,1 gig ram and 8 meg camera low end. The low end is Xperia E and Tipo

if I do upgrade this year I may try something different, owning a Samsung I already have the best of what Android brings, would now like to try maybe BB or even an iPhone, a small part of me is also growing curious of what WP9 may bring
Me also. The S3 is just fast and fluid i cannot imagine it being bettered, but clearly Samsung can do so. Im happy with my S3 so much i doubt i'll upgrade unless my S3 dies on me.
Like ive said in other threads, i really love the Lumia 920, i just wish it had a 808 style camera and i would buy one. Samsung bring the best Android phones out and nothing comes close.
I have to admit though, the S4 is better looking than the S3. I also like the black colour option rather than white this time. Last years blue S3 was horrible imo.
Did you see the continued nonesense..

Ah yes, Gizmodo, like I said in the Z thread, that is one of those sites I never take seriously on anything non-Apple. For some odd reason Bloomberg West often get the head editor from Gizmodo as a guest when they talk mobile, and all the guy does each time he appears is talk big about Apple and talks down about any other company.

Not much we can do about the ignorance I guess, just have a good laugh and be glad you were blessed with the patience to tolerate it.

hmm.... someone quoted the phonearena survey. Its quite strange, last two days, when I did the poll, number of votes for XPeria Z is around 6,XXX and now, it becomes 1,743 !!!. Can anybody explain, why is that happening ? Did phonearena alter the result ?
