Lol, the two devices I have been waiting or hoping for! And the Z has got the screen issue and the HTC a camera that I think is too bad for a 600€ flagship.
I will never get away from the IPhone.... |

I think we need to see some images of 2 Xperia Z side by side with exactly the same settings and see if there is genuinely an issue with the screens. We all have different expectations and see issues differently.
Couldn't agree more..

Well, while you're still waiting ( or actually only hoping ) for Sony to finally make a good and bugfree phone, with good screen, camera, music quality, processor, latest Android version with polished and good-looking custom UI, with proper product support and at reasonable prize, all in one, which I bet won't happen in this century, take a look at the real beast - HTC One! Samsung Galaxy 4 is around the corner too! Did I mentioned LG Optimus G? Or the newest Alcatel and Huawei additions, which have almost the same specs as your ultimately expensive Z, but in "better-looking box" and less than half the price.

You have a point but tell me which SMARTphone in recent years has actually worked perfectly out of the box and not needed any tweaking, be it hardware or software. If there is one, then we know in which direction we should point Sony. Without it we are happy to expend time on these forums letting of steam and continue to live in the hope of the perfect SMARTphone, winning the lottery, World Peace and well the rest is down to my sordid imagination. Peace Out Guys!!! |

Never bothers me that it's a bit grey rather than black. It's not AMOLED or Clear Black tech is it?? Not as far as i am aware. And as Doministry said people become a little over obsessed with this. Sometimes a new phone your eyes need to adjust to the screen I often find that. The XT screen is good and people moaned saying that looked washed out
I remember a color calibration menu somewhere. does it exist? or i should forget sony for my future phone plans?

Hahaha I won't ever be against Sony cmon. I love Sony wayyyy too much.
Just that I was disappointed to hear about poor screen.
Anyway its not to worry, it COULD be fixed with a firmware update. No problem with the panel but software as Riyal posted on XDA. It's a software issue.
So everyone, do NOT worry. Go ahead and buy the Z

Well Dacha, I understand but this is the first time a Sony flagship has a truly "bad" screen. Xperia S, Ion, TX, T, V all had very good screens, only viewing angles were not perfect but on angle they were amazing.
Sony could have used LG 5 inch 1080p panels at least
Should i think buying V or TX instead of Z? i don't wanna throw my money on a 660euros device with crap screen (and speaker). I don't make money that easy... i save over two months for this shit.

Same here. I love Sony too much. The Pics I have so far of XZ doesn't seem very bad as people are posting here. I can see that the screen looks bad with 100% brightness and that too in dark. When you see the screen in bright sunlight it will not matter that much. Doesn't XZ have a automatic brightness control?
And mario, you cannot expect a great speaker for a waterproof phone. You can always buy one of those "Pink Ball" Speakers!!!!

HTC One? If you like this ugly HTC skin....
I don't believe what I read here. It's a bit crazy, really.
Guys check again the reviews and don't get carried away by some random crap......
I promise I will let you know ASAP when I'll visit Sony Center.

^^
Then doesn't it adjust the screen brightness for best display as per the external lighting conditions?
If the user is setting wrong brightness level for wrong conditions then is it the phone's problem?

Okay. So Sony doesn't have the best display in the market. But that the Z has a stellar display is beyond doubt. Its just not better than the others but can hold its own. As far aa the blacks, at 100% brightness the display looks washed out, more so cause Sony made a stupid decision to have a grey UI.
Hopefully the 4.2 update will have a black UI. Things ought to be better. So overall, Z is still a great package. Can't wait to get mine
