btw, i just love tech, i'm not planning to buy a phone, unless my iphone 3gs stops working, i replace my phone usually every 5 years, so i assume one more year to go until it stops breathing i do know that my next phone is probably sony flagship as i love what sony offers, most likely Z2, but i'm not "waiting" for it. |

Yes I posted the Z2 specs, they are pretty genuine. And I never mentioned CES, if you read my post I've mentioned April.

XR1 = possibly fake rumors, very low chance of being real
XR2 = rumor from unknown sources
XR3 =50% chance it is correct
XR4 = rumor from known sources
XR5 = almost certainly correct!

R= Rating
we rate a certain rumor according to the level of trust we have on the source that provided the info, usually sources who already proved themselves reliable and had a track record of at ~90% correct infos belongs on the XR4 and 5.
ramu already implemented the XR rating system in this thread, but the idea came from Sony Alpha Rumors. Canon/Fuji and 4/3rds also use them

I'm planning to open the 2014 thread either the first two weeks of October or later, there's a lot to prepare and just like everyone else I also have a role in the real world, so until I'm finally able to put more attention to it, this thread will stay for a while. if you guys have suggestions as to how we could improve upon, come and share it

Can we please not toss "XR5" around so casually this time around. So many things that were apparently "XR5" ended up being complete rubbish. |

this is totally MY OWN speculation: it makes the most sense to me that sony will introduce 5.5 inch phablet at CES 2014 to rival the note 3, htc one max, etc. since sony doesn't have any (the z ultra is a tablet-phone), but it won't be called Z2, since the Z1-2-3 etc. is not a phablet line. so this shouldn't change the Z1 selling in any way since the products are not of the same size.
i think the Z2 will be introduced at IFA 2014 with the successor of snapdragon 800 = 1200, etc. to rival iphone 6, galaxy s5, etc. since they started branding it with numbers. new number = every calendar year, like with the galaxy s line.
again, my OWN speculation.

just like Xperia V / J / E were announce last year after Xperia T/TX announcement
so those kind of phones where should we consider them in 2013 or 2014 thread ..

Why no one of you remembered and memorized that SONY want to go out completely from all phone markets except the high end
So they will reduce the mainstream low end and mid mainstream year after year until tends to zero may be 2015 or 2016 at most
And then we will just have Zx tablet, Zx phaplet aka Ultra, Zx, Zx mini and that's it, nothing more, and I think it's clear now day after day that this will be a true one day

Sony won't leave mid-range , entry-level any time soon .
they might shift them Firefox OS instead of Android , but for sure there will be plenty of them especially in those emerging markets .
