Yes we had this debate already.
No hardware stabilisation, and no epic fail, thank you for not bringing this back.

Is this confirmed? I highly doubt it.
Honami doesn't have OIS, will be confirmed on Wednesday.
it can still have >SteadyShot
I find it funny that people is sooo knowledgeable before they've actually seen
the device. it's a fantastic world we live in!

Not saying i know, just saying this is the debate we had to avoid have it again.
I don't know if this is correct, and don't pretend nothing, just tired of always the same complaints and debate going on and on every few pages.
To be clear, i don't know and we will see.
Anyway I give up, this is a nonsense geek debate.
People talk about failure and success like they had a single clue on how to build and sell phones and can advise Sony to reproduce the huge success stories of Nokia and HTC
Why don't they create their start-up to give Sony a good lesson? They will be billionaires for sure!!

The fact is that there were rumours of OIS, Xenon Flash and more.
Now there's no Xenon, no OIS, if Sony had included a Xenon Flash, OIS and other features then they would have a killer phone on their hands which would have destroyed the competition.
Seriously what exactly is this competition that Honami had no chance of winning if it didn't have OIS? S4 definitely looked outdated beside Honami on almost all front, 1020 is asking you the price of most android flagship despite its 2 year old HW, HTC One's ultrapixel resolution is almost pathetic (no offense to One users here but just being objective) even compared to the already poor Z camera, MotoX don't come close to almost anything hardware wise, G2's OIS camera won't give you all the miracles you are expecting it to do with your shaking hands. I dont get this OIS hype on smartphones at the first place, Just how shaky are your hands that even a fast wide angle lens couldn't compensate for it without stabilization? I don't recall seeing crap cameraphone videos even before OIS on smartphone became a trend not unless the guy behind it really sucked at video/photography, realistically speaking there's no such cure for that

Razec, I can agree that OIS or sensor shift is better than no stabilisation all other things being equal.
And you would surely agree as well.
But I think you are losing your time.
Because here the debate is not on how different types of stabilisation make a difference and how noticeable it is.
The debate is about failure, success, and how OIS or xenon will command success and failure.
I feel that the guys that bring that are the ones that can grasp these things the less because they mention market failures or half baked cakes as being successes...
Even assuming that mainstreet consumer cares about stabilisation, if sony has a software stabilisation and advertise it as steadyshot, then mainstreet consumers will not understand the difference.
As long as the camera package is good consumers will be satisfied, and you know that you need to have a shutter speed quite long to notice a difference, depending on your focal distance 35mm eq, or how wide your angle is. With a decent compact camera sensor going at least up to 800 iso and f2 lens, i think these cases will be rare enough, and the led flash will be here to make it even more rare.
Finally we are talking about rumors.
So you can do yourself a favor, give up and just ignore them, it really feels better this way!
By the way, from the leaked pictures, do we know the angle of view the camera / the 35mm eq focal lens?

LED flashes on Sony phones are so poor look at the Xperia S, T and Z they are so weak and the range is terrible compared to GS3 and GS4 LED flashes. |

Relax... the Honami is not a proper camera phone, it doesn't need to have all of these things. Its already a big/heavy device, if they add a xenon flash, OIS, and a bigger sensor you will be looking at a 200 g. device.. and no one will like that.

why would you want to solder something and destroy the beauty of the phone if attachable/detachable accessories are going to be available? |

I don't care that much about xenon, but no OIS is a deal breaker for me, guys understand us, sony claims that honami will be something "extraordinary". If there won't be any of the features that we expected from them we have the right to be disappointed. |

It is said that the official version of Z1 in China will be RMB 4,999, which is equavelent to the price of XZ when lanched. Please dont exchange it to other currencies directly because the Chinses official version is normally much more expensive than that of international versions.
Just for reference, the official version of XZU has just been lauched with the price being RMB 5,299.
Edit: I have to say the price is much lower than market expectation. So I get a bit worried about the display performance.
Edit 2: The price has been confirmed to be RMB 4,999. It will be released shortly after the announcement on Sep.5.

Sony choose the optimized specs, those xenon and etc specs will add more weight, thickness and more expensive( people will prefer cheapest flagship smartphone, consumer always want the cheapest price with high specs, this is a fact).
