^^^ yea thats an excellent link explaining the phenomenon, sorry i didnt respond to the questions sooner. global shutter means it captures the entire frame at the same moment, rather than reading the sensor one line at a time - avoiding the distorted verticals that can occur with fast moving subjects so yea, if were moving up into 4K and with the unsteady nature of our hands, we need to address this because all the O/IS in the world cant fix a sensor that essentially takes a picture in a wave across the face of the photo sites.

however only crazy highend sony cameras have just started getting this, can it be scaled into a phone yet, well they seem to want to push 4K down to the masses so who knows: http://www.dpreview.com/news/[....]th-sxs-and-axsm-memory-options

This would be a MASSIVE + for sony that no other phone could claim, of course tangible results would need to be shown. but it would go a LONG way in differentiating their product.

Do we still not know if the Z1 will come with 32 GB of internal memory? Also does anyone know if Sony has implemented trim in their latest firmware for Z Ultra? Or will we have to wait for 4.3...

There is a lot more plastic around the plug than you think, and with this kind of extrapolating you're getting significantly different results.

Fair point. With the new pics available and your hint on the volume rocker I made another quick comparison and I now support your opinion that it is Honami.

So is the S-Master Audio chip rumor has been debunked? The reason I am asking is I want to get the android Walkman F806, if Honami does indeed has a dedicated S-Master MX chip then ill jump and buy it instead.

OT
Speaking of design... what do you think of this??
Isn't it horrendous???
man I love the big N (alias Nintendo) and their devices too... even if their design is so so... but this... this is ugly and unpractical

Nintendo 2DS

Once again, don't expect a handset smaller than Honami with the same specs (no Snapdragon 800, most likely no 20MP cam). There might be a smaller high-end phone, but it won't be Honami-high-end.

Those specs on Alpha Rumours came from PDA DB and were just wrong. (Which is why they were removed from the site.)

I am honestly having trouble figuring out what you base your ....opinion.... on, the only difference I see between the Z1 and a Mini version would be the screen and the battery being smaller - the device might even be a little thicker, now anyone that understands the tech will know why I'm saying this

The problem with forums like these is people give random opinions without actually explaining why they are saying what they are saying - smaller screen requires smaller battery - the camera and the CPU and GPU have nothing to do with it

I know exactly what I'm saying, thanks. I just mean that the Snapdragon 800 is by comparison a bigger SoC than usual and it requires quite some power while in use. A smaller display would help, but reducing the battery size with a Snapdragon 800 would lead to too little usage time under load. And well, a Snapdragon 800 has no use really, especially not for non-full-HD-phones. A Snapdragon 400 makes more sense. A Snapdragon 600 might work too, but they'd have to be careful.

Plus, a bigger device equals slightly better heat dispersion. When you're dealing with powerhouses like the 600 and the 800 that becomes important. There's a very good reason Samsung never used the Exynos 5 dual in smartphones.

@Ambroos, I may be wrong but I think there might be a below 5" phone with S800 in next 6 months.
@Ermac84; no S-Master dedicated audio chip. Honami will be using Qualcomm's solution for audio processing.

And a MASSIVE THANK YOU to xell for resolving the posting issue!

Would Sony skip an Android 4.3 update for the Honami, post release, going straight for an Android 5.0 one? Is this likely?

I see your point there! although in terms of power consumption doesn't the Snapdragon 800 have asynchronous clocks for all the cores? so if the phone did not require all the power it could downclock the cores as needed and use less power. While you are right that you don't need snapdragon 800 for non-full-hd phones these phones have hdmi out which would output in full hd which paired with PS controller would make them fantastic for gaming thus requiring the extra power of snapdragon 800 and why people would like to see such power even in a smaller phone!

in terms of size yes the SoC would be bigger but I really hope Sony do manage to put it in even if it means the phone ends up being a little thicker to accommodate it. Sure the Soc itself may not be thick itself some of the other things like battery could be moved around it!

these are just my opinions. but I would love to see a phone smaller than Honami with similar spec in terms of power and camera, and I really hope you are wrong regarding this and have not heard of this device as yet.

Motivate that yes.. how would it be possible ? you mean keep Honami on 4.2.2 atleast a year and then update to 5.0?
