Surprised no one posted this

Looks like that talk about Sonys internet TV service is continuing along and will be ready either by the end of this year or early next. Loving the possibilities this could have... watch TV over the internet to your Bravia TV, Sony Bluray, PS4, PC, tablet, smartphone... I do wonder if movies will be included in this service, or only TV shows.

Still hopeful Sony will make a Netflix competitor for movies and maybe mix it with this for a bundle service. Maybe even toss in Gaikai gaming for a triple bundle!

Still remains to be seen what this service will fully entail and the prices, but Sony has the potential to knock this one out of the park and be THE defacto IPTV service.

ALL HAIL KAZ!

By their image, looks like it needs a small accessory that is connected to the headphone jack, and, by my guess, uses an app to reproduce the content...

That would be great!

@Ramu, any chance of this feature in Honami?

What is your guess on the camera, is a bigger sensor really possible?

I thought Sony has changed its strategy, no more H1/H2 flagships, only one device per year.... or not?

Cheers,

Nope, checked system dump, it's still H264. Don't expect too huge a quality gain over 1080p though.

Can we eventually get H.265 on Honami via update?

If so, how likely do you think that will be?

No, H265 (or HEVC) is a codec that is computationally very hard. The Snapdragon 800 would not be able to handle real-time encoding of 4K video in HEVC, and playback would be hard too.

If 4K is still in the final product it'll be in H264 (since that's the best Snapdragon 800 can encode on the hardware side). Highest possible bitrate: 120Mbps, which gives you files of around 800MB-900MB per minute.

There is simply not much point to Sony putting 4K recording in a phone just yet, and they might as well keep it 'till 2014 as an extra sales point then. There are very few people with a 4K TV and there is so little point to 4K for anyone without a 4K TV it just doesn't make sense yet.

But I've seen the software, it's there and was working at one point. Even if it's not in the final ROM I'm pretty sure we can have someone at XDA port it over from the system dump.

Its from my source.

Also yes, 2 flagship strategy will continue for the next few years, if not forever
