@Ramu:
Yeah you said that before, and this is the only thing i have doubts about (with all due respect!!)
Maybe Docomo is starting to be flexible (woah! what a flexibility!) if they want to sell the iphone some day...
But i do hope you are right, it will look way better with Sony on it!

And unfortunately ours will say docomo... But hey they will pay mnp subsides for it so i can tolerate...
Yeah...If it boils down to this a) Docomo logo + IR blaster (likely for Jpn model) or b) no logo and clean, but no IR, I am sure most will go for a)!!
If this is the case, I might have to fly back for this one rather than get international version (having waited a bit so that white roms have come down a bit in price, and XDA has had enough time to figure out root process..) |

@unknown
Would this be final production finish, judging by the days left till launch? Or is it more likely final prototype?
I don't know. But I can definetly confirm there's several variants of C690X flying around with different printing designs and IR blasters. But the latest one looks final to me.
The one with IR blaster had its back covered. |

anybody else find it strange that the G lens branding has the sensor size 1/2.3 instead of f/2.0?
Yes!
But as Shotokan already mentioned, the relative big sensor should be more important than aperture (in reality and in marketing).

Honami's sensor size ain't new to smartphones, the ancient Satio and C905 used to have such size (just a little bit smaller actually) I honestly think it doesn't makes sense to put the sensor size label without the inch symbol ("), how the heck would people get it?

^i suppose that's true. but most people won't have a clue what 1/2.3 means. so from a marketing standpoint it's not that powerful.
f/1.8 or f/2 is more recognizable. but again, perhaps it's just a prototype printing for now and the final version will be different. seems like sony is keeping things secret right now. maybe we're in for some big surprises in 3 weeks

I have been comparing the magnetic connector port on the latest pic, against the ZU in front of me. I reckon they are identical in dimension and orientation. So it won't be a proprietary connector. I hope they make it universal across all sony products, no matter how large or small the device. Until the day devices thinner than 5mm becomes the standard, I hope to see these connectors on future tablets, phones, laptops and accessories .. |

The sensor size is much more telling than the mpix count or the F number..
I've been saying that OEMs should move away from mpix count and start advertising sensor/pixel sizes instead, this is a great step forward by Sony.
The other one was done by HTC with the ultrapixel stuff.. 2.2 microns. etc.
At least they are starting to bring up the important stuff.
Nokia had a great opportunity to educate the public with the 808 .. but they didn't |

i was reading comments on xperiablog, which mirror those on here, about the bezel and how it's too big. i think it's funny that there are so many complaints of how it makes it ugly, where the iphone5 is right next to it with the same size bezels, yet no one ever really complains about iphone's bezels.
anyway. just thought it was funny. i personally don't think the bezels are big at all. they aren't ultra thin, but they surely aren't insane (the side ones anyway). top and bottom bezels are fine with me too. they had to fit in everything somehow.
