@Honami vs Lumia 1020:
There winner is clear, in my opinion.

Its not at all clear until Honami is released and we can compare the images and videos they produce.
Until then its meaningless conjecture.

Also, I hope the Honami's camera software is up to par with the 1020's. With ISO control, a degree of manual focusing, white-balance control etc. etc. Adding those functions into the camera UI would be the big thing that would put the Honami up there with the 1020 in terms of camera performance.

^That's why I said in my opinion
And my opinion is based on the rumors we have so far.
If it turns out that e.g. the sensor on the Honami will be smaller in the end, then logically my opinion would change.

really hope Honamini does not sacrifice any of the features of Honami apart from the size and screen size! just want a smaller version of Honami! I would even accept a little more thickness for a smaller height and width!

and secondly really hope SONY don't make the mess of making this market dependent as they did with Z / ZL! its extremely difficult to get ZL in the UK which is a shame for people who actually prefer to smaller bezel over the waterproof feature!

thirdly having both released at the same time would be fantastic as it would let customers get the best of SONY and let them choose which size they prefer!

This is all wishful thinking and my personal opinion!

Nokia's way to artificially create large pixels ?

So you doubt the magic pureview ?

Now understand once and for all, Honami is great, amazing, the best Android photo of all time, but it will be much lower compared to 1020, but also and especially in relation to the 808 !

P.S: Let's go back to topic please !

Those shots look great until you take a closer look at the shutter speed.
At ISO 100 and a shutter speed at almost three seconds, it's not that hard to get that clean shots.
I rather see higher ISO value with controlled noise reduction at faster shutter speed to make non-static things less smeary.
Hopefully Honami can bring great image even at ISO well above the maximum ISO rate for Pureview/1020.

I hope the L version of Honami, if it exists, is also waterproof. The Lumia 1020 is more pocket friendly and more likely to be picked over the Honami becuase of size. Sony really needs to step up their game and the L version of Honami with waterptoof and more compact design is what they need.

I wish everybody can have choice in screen size and bezel like z/zl, but for the sake of not getting disapointed, it may be good not to take this for granted (edit: not implying pevious posts authors take it for granted, more for the readers).

As per my understanding, smaller screen size Honami will come in 2014'Q1 and not at the same time as Honami.
Secondly, there is no rumor for a like for like ZL version, there is a rumor for a mysterious device that may or may not release, but if it does release nobody knows when and what the specs are. So I would not count on a ZL version of Honami now.

For 2013, only one smartphone running snapdragon 800 is confirmed at this point in time, and it is Honami.

XZU is pocket friendly as well. why would Honami, smaller than XZU, be pocket unfriendly?

@McKinley: thank you for picking this. Yep, strong HW to allow short shutter speed is everything (with AF speed) for my use case, in particular when taking pictures of small kids indoor. Try to take a pic of babies with 3 second shutter speed! Not saying Nokia effort on software is not great, but in some cases, great hardware is the only answer, sw alone cannot help.

@DexterMoser: agreed with you, honami is the clear winner...in my heart! The rumored specs are a fantastic hardware effort from Sony and the only thing that make me consider buying the phone. I am not a fan of a brand, i am objectively excited by a maker creating such an advanced technology prowess.

@XYZ: I think our point is, the current rumored specs are setting the bar above any existing phone at the best of our understanding. We expect the HW to be the rumored one, and we expect the one sony strategy to mean the SW will take full advantage of the HW, be on par with it, as the imaging group is in charge of the camera. As this is rumor, yes it is speculation, but not meaningless, it is our best understanding given our own individual knowledge or experience.

That's why I said "more" pocket friendly. If you look at the rumoured dimension of the Honami and compared that to Nokia 1020, you can tell immediately which phone is gonna fit your pocket better.

About Xperia ZU being pocket friendly, you must be 6'5" tall to say that.

I don't really get more/less pocket friendly part. a phone is either pocket friendly or not pocket friendly. this is not a survey where you get to scale 1 through 10.

1020 is the worst device in terms of dimensions!!! With a 4.5" screen it even bigger and thicker than phones like zl(5" screen)
so please it would be better if you can rather refrain away from giving examples of these kind of stupid phones.
And 1020 doesn't even have top of the line specs. . . It's specs are mediocre at best and still it is so pathetic in terms of dimensions.
