In all serousness I wouldn't call the Xbox One dead, but it's been severely crippled compared to the PS4 out of the gate.
PS4 starts at a price point $100 less. To the average consumer who's going holiday shopping, this is a HUGE deal when they see these two products side by side. The informed gamer currently knows about Microsofts crappy policies regarding used games and whatnot, but what about the general public? Mainstream news outlets likes The Wallstreet Journal and Forbes already picked up on this just a couple of days ago and now that both Sony and Microsofts strategies are out there for all to see, I'm certain that more and more mainstream outlets will be reporting this. The world as a whole will learn about these disadvantages of going with the Xbox One, and this will negatively impact them.
There's also the fact that Xbox One is about 33% less powerful than the PS4 and lacks any backwards compatability option, whereas the PS4 will have Gaikai as an option for those with a sufficient internet connection.
We could talk about the gaming selection, but that really up to personal taste. The thing we can say is that with multiplatform games the developers will at least have the ability to make their games look better on the PS4 due to its added horsepower. Yes, Microsoft will talk about the power of the cloud adding to the Xbox Ones processing abilities, but that's unproven at this time. As opposed to say, Gaikai which was proven long before Sony even bought them out.
BTW, if you want to see the PS4 menu interfact in action, here is a video of the conference. Skip to 2:54:04

Destroyed before lunch by SONY
The xbox does come with the camera thing, which is a 70 dollar accessory on the ps4, and it probably doesn't work as well. You also have to pay for online gaming, which is "free" on xbox..
So all in all, the difference in price is justified.
From what I saw, the xbox has superior software, and the ps4 has better hardware.. which corresponds to what those two companies are good at.
To call the Xbox "dead" is rather ignorant.. they will sell millions of those boxes.
They kind of look alike as well

Don't crap here. The online multiplayer is NOT free. And I don't see how Xbox's software is superior. They are not. |

On ps4 is "less than $5/month" .. or at least this is what they said during the presentation. I haven't heard anything about having to pay for online multiplayer on the xbox.
As far as the software.. do some research.. on a kernel level the xbox is an engineering marvel. |

During the Microsoft conference they announced it the Xbox One will continue to use Live. The only bone they threw their fans is that it now includes 2 games a month, but the games they announced were crap anyways. Basically nothing has changed for Microsofts paywall other than them providing a poor mans PS+.
PS+ now encompasses PS3, PS4 and PS Vita. For one single fee you now get free games each and every month for all 3 platforms, discounts on other games, cloud storage, early beta access to certain games, and of course multiplayer for PS4. Live is NOTHING compared to that. In the year I've owned PS+ I've already recieved at least 60 free games for PS3 and Vita ranging from small indie games to AAA titles. |

Yet crapping again. Xbox One continue to use the Xbox live subscription. To play online, you need a Xbox live Gold account.
How do I know? I embarrassingly own a Xbox 360.
About kernels, nobody gives a shit about it. As long there's an impressive experience, backed by one of the world largest movies and music entertainment arm, given to users, nobody cares what kernel runs the OS. |

Why must we always go off topic. What does the ps4 vs xbox one have to do with Sony Mobile rumours?
If theres no rumours to discuss, then dont post. Its annoying reading pages of irrelevant stuff.

It's a slow period for mobile rumors, and this place is filled with excited Sony fans. Like it or not, they're gonna gush about what's exciting them. I mean, we're only a few hours removed from the E3 conference. Gotta give it a bit of time for things to die down. |

i think Microsoft still have the chance to make things right.. they did not speak about any strategy or their policy about used games and always online connectivity requirements at least officially through E3 press, and most of these downsides are basically software related which they can easily change all of that IF they really want to.. till this fall my guess is they will do eventually

the no new rumours is like the thing that a good book is essential gear for landscape photographer - so when there is no good light/condition and you are so bored that will shoot everything in sight then its better to read the book |

There was no need for MS to cover used games and DRM at E3 because they covered it just a few days ago via the internet
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2013/06/07/xbox-one-drm/1
Basically no renting games at all. The unit needs to check in once every 24 hours or all gameplay functions stop. Used games can only work via approved retailers. You can gift a game to a friend only if they have been on your friends list for over 30 days, and when you give them the disc that is it. It can not be given back and they can not gift it again.
So yeah… f**k Microsoft. |
