Just received the notification for OTA update for 9.1.B.1.67, wondering can I keep the root if I use OTA update on my TX?
Can we root the phone with this latest update without unlock boot locker?

Would OTA rootkeeper able to keep my root after I update to 9.1.B.1.67 using OTA? Cheers.

@caff111: I own an Xperia T and recently I had an update notification, I updated my phone via PC Companion, since the OTA update was not available, and lost root.

However, using Byn4ry's method @ xda-developers I was able to root my phone again.

Here is the link, in case you are not familiar with this particular rooting method:

I guess my experience would apply to you, since both handsets are practically identical.

But some people mentioned that this root method does not works with the latest update 9.1.B.1.67 on Xperia TX? Can anyone confirmed? I am scared of losing my root. Cheers.

You can use DooMLoRD's easy root toolkit from xda for that FW. I just used the script for my Z and it works like a charm. So much easier than Bin4ry's root tool that needs you to choose a device and press buttons and wait etc. Just run it and press go.

@Big_D
If T gets 4.2.2 TX should do too, the hardware and FW is almost identical. Literally a couple dozen lines are different. They'd be stupid to not push to TX too. However, from past experience, IF TX gets 4.2.2 it won't be until early next year (gauging by the fact Xperia S only just got 4.1 in the last couple weeks).

Is anyone's Xperia TX/T extremely glitchy? My girlfriend has a TX and this is her list of faults:

    * Battery life is useless. It lasts less than a day with full power save settings on and only moderate use. In comparison, my Xperia Z with similar use and the same power save settings lasts up to two days.
    * Random Chinese error pictures showing up in the photo album (the phone is imported but definitely genuine).
    * Text messages come through twice very often.
    * The phone is slow and even common, well-supported apps crash quite often.
    * Her 500mb monthly data allowance gets used up really quickly, sometimes within three days so she has to have data turned off until she needs to use it.
    * Random screen sepia colour glitches when waking and sleeping the phone.
    * Set alarms sometimes don't even go off, but if they do, it's often hard to turn the alarm sound off as the screen and side buttons are unresponsive.
    * Screen can be unresponsive sometimes.

The phone seems completely useless! We have reflashed the firmware and it fixed nothing. My Xperia Z does none of this stuff.

The problem is, if we take it back, how do we prove it is stuffed if these glitches don't happen all of the time?

None of the above. Although very recently I've found that the WiFi hotspot will turn off for no apparent reason at a random time.

Also, I've found that manually turning the data off, instead of relying on Stamina mode, seems to make the battery last a whole lot longer. I'm not sure Stamina mode even works.

It most certanly work on my XP. Without it, it is impossible for me to get more than 2-3 days of standby.

I have upgraded from Xperia S

I bought Xperia TX, and directly upgraded it to 4.1.2, I have not experiencing any bugs like you mentioned above except for some apps do crash at randomly but rarely

the only annoying about the phone is the battery life, without the extended standby mode, with medium use it will not last 10hrs, but if it is ON, it can last upto 16hrs

20-30 Text Message, 5-7mins Calls, 20-30mins Gaming and reception in my area is not that good.

and does anyone tried using 16/32GB class 10 micro sd cards, and not having a problem, I heard that some android phones are killing micro sd cards. Im just using Transcend 16GB class 6, I might upgrade. Thanks in advance

Is Screen type B really better than type C?

My (wife's) TX isn't having any problems mentioned. She plays on it all day, but is near a charger most of the day so I can't comment on the battery.

It works fine the 32GB memory card I put in and had no problems with an 8GB before it.

I've not personally compared type B to type C in my hands, but I can say that the type B screen (which I have) is the best phone screen I've seen first hand, much better than Z even with the most recent updates that fix the screen.

You have to go to system/app folder in your TX, find the Xperia wallpapers app, move it to your PC, rename the .apk to .zip, unzip, find the image and then load it back onto your Z.

OR

Tell a friend which image you want and let them do it for you (screenshot the wallpaper from your TX and I'll do it for you)

I really thought my T battery was draining too quickly, but after I deleted a couple of power-sucking widgets, I think it's performing rather good now. Some widgets really do drain your battery fast!

Anyway, I have a question. My screen protector recently got a couple of deepish scratches on it. If I remove it to replace it with the extra one from the box, will the Sony logo peel off also? Thanks....
