I thought i would correct the other post claiming the iphone 4s as the best phone in the world lol

without a doubt the Galaxy S3 is the best smartphone out there at the moment! Im a Sony fan and even im not blind that its the best phone in the world. Some Apple fans are blind to see that though.

Your thoughts?

Best is relative.

That's like saying a lowered Mercedes DTM car with a single Recaro racing seat, roll-cage, no stereo, no AC, and no carpeting is the best car in the world.

Or that a Bigfoot Monster Truck is the best truck in the world because it has the biggest tires and highest ground clearance.

My personal take on the whole phone vs phone thing would be: The iPhone, is a Lexus ES. The Galaxy S3, a Subaru WRX STi. Sony, would probably be a Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Maybe the best because many people considers it to be the all-in-one of the all-in-ones, it's got everything nicely covered and on top of that Samsung has extraordinary marketing to push it in front of everyone's eyes on any medium it is possible to be advertised. I do agree that S3 is the best "Android" because Samsung's got everything "right" in its overall package. One X on the other hand have great specs but somehow it was overshadowed by S3 at some points. as for looks beauty is relative and for me both phones look nothing but a pocket-sized slab with a beautiful screen on front and a small camera hole at the back, nothing special looks wise, though when at hand, HTC One X shines, I don't know about S3.

"Best" is personal, imo, there is no such thing as the best phone (or car, whatever) overall.
The best phone for me, is the phone that does best, what I want it to do, my colleague or neighbour might have different needs, hence different "best" phones.
The iPhone does best, what a lot of people need, so it's the "best" for them, the Samsung GSIII does this for many others, so it's their "best".
And then there are those poor souls, not capable of having an opinion of their own, always following the current hype. As both the iPhone and the Galaxy SIII are pretty much (over)hyped in the media, they will probably end up with one of these phones, whether they need it, or not.

I wouldn't buy either of them, nor would my husband.

I wouldn't say its the best phone but the most annoying phone I have ever used. I dislike the "nature" noise each time you tap, phone is filled with weird noises. The notification light is ultra bright like old Nokia phones(n73) which is really annoying when your sleeping. More over with the quad cores, its even slower than HTC desire for basic but very important functions, such as launching 'phone' and messaging. Even xperia neo was way faster in this regard. It's just an overhyped bloated phone, that gives me the same feeling I had when I used a Samsung corby couple years ago. I feel s2 was much better when they were being more like Apple.

S3 with a custom Rom will probably solve all my annoyances but I don't use or buy for custom Roms..

If I ever have to buy galaxy s series I will rather get iPhone. Their source of "inspiration'. Otherwise HTC or Sony is what I will buy

Best Android overall? Hell yes, best all-round Smartphone for both power users and average users? No doubt about it.
Best smartphone? A bit subjective.

Its the best Galaxy S smartphone for sure, the less they have tried to imitate Apple the better the product has been, e.g. Galaxy Note and S3 .S3 shows just how capable Samsung are to go it on their own, wish they had done that from the 1st Galaxy S, and i personally wish i had gone for a Galaxy S rather than the really pretty looking but a bit crappy Xperia X10, luckily i saw the potential in Android and went for the correct manufacturer for my 2nd Android.

Samsung seem to be the only Android OEM capable of skinning their Androids with custom UI yet still maintaining an extremely fast, fluid and stable UI throughout the smartphone's life.

I think that the S3 ticks all the boxes. They put in a quad core, big screen, big memory etc. which in one way or another will appeal to most people. Its the best in terms of performance despite you never needing all that power. Its marketed very well also. Depends on your preferences, I prefer more handsome and pocketable phones because I only use them for work or spur of the moment photos so camera is important for me.

I would say that the S3 is like a Bugatti, brilliant machine but excessive and a bit vulgar. iPhone is more like a Bentley, a very good high end machine but owned by Wags and footballers for fashion; when put next to a proper sports car or something of a similar price it gets eaten alive. (not sure about Sony yet) is like an Aston Martin, the best looking but not really the best performer which is evident when next to a powerhouse but it is a brilliant package and something about it makes it more appealing than its competitors.

The question isn't what is the best phone, is for who.

Hehehe... you're quite generous with your car analogies badassmam! I wouldn't even put ANY phone on the market today with a Bimmer, Merc, or Audi... not Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo... all the more the exotics.

I was being kind associating the iPhone with the Lexus ES... I was originally gonna say they were like a Camry, but felt they get plus points for better branding image. No way are they even close to being a Bimmer or Merc.

If Samsung made the S3 with the exact specs and dimensions, but the shell was made of milled titanium, the screen was sapphire, and had wireless induction charging with a nice titanium tray/cradle as the charger... MAYBE I'd say it was like an Audi R8. Still not a Bugatti.

If Apple got rid of the awful icon tiled layout for kindergarten kids, and had better multitasking, I'd say it would be a 5 Series or E- Class Merc.

If Sony gave us internal specs like Samsung, I'd happily call them Porsche (or Aston as you put it) but with the specs they have now? Nope.

**Edited: Adding the few "luxury" Androids by Tag Heuer, Lumigon and the like... true, built exquisitely, but outdated specs... these would be like a 1970's Porsche or Merc. Fast for its time, still expensive, well made and looks great.. but can't keep up with the entry level performance rice-rockets**

Lol, if you want to use car analogies id say:

iPhone = Chev Camaro (way overhyped)
Galaxy S= BMW M3/M5
Xperia= Volvo S40/S60/C70

The Volvo Xperia comparison made my day!
If Sony wakes up next year maybe the Xperias will graduate into Porsches.

Yep, the iPhone is definitely an American muscle car that is just useless in most areas.

Samsung, have really become the benchmarks with their Galaxy S phones.

I guess it can be considered best all rounder with its specs power etc. But as a few have said its down to personal preference. Not everyone wants a massive slab of a phone. Personally I actually found now I prefer the One X. When people say the best,do they best in performance?? When people start comparing benchmarks I find it pointless cos in everyday tasks in real life usage they mean nothing. If I was using the One X and the GS3 I would probably not notice much difference with everyday usage unless doing high performance tasks like playing games etc. As for looks the One X defo wins hands down for me and its screen.
