^ That's why the iPhone 5s is considered by many as one of the best camera phones ever produced.. the results are not the best but they are extremely consistent and "good enough" for 99% of the users out there. Its also extremely easy to use.. there are hardly any manual controls at all, and you still get nice looking photographs.

The new dual LED flash that they have on there can't quite compete with the xenon units .. but yet again its more than enough for most people.

So I agree.. the 808's camera is indeed harder to use.. its kind of like shooting with a DSLR and a p&s camera, the DSLR will give you better results but you have to spent more time on achieving that. The big difference being that the difference b/w the 808 and the 1020 in terms of final result is much, much smaller that b/w a dslr and a random point and shoot.

Personally.. I like the challenge the 808 presents when it comes to photography. It's camera has a very distinct character that you need to learn how to deal with. I enjoy it, but like you said... I am the minority.

Don't get me wrong... you won't catch me getting rid of my 808 any time soon. I love the results you can pull from the 808 and it will ALWAYS come out with me on the weekends... But for day to day use, I'm quite happy with my 1020 and super excited to see what black does for it's I/Q. [addsig]

I think that the 1020 is more than enough and its amazing how much they've improved the ease of use from the 808 in only about a year.

Black will bring it much closer to the 808 in daylight I think.. we will have to wait and see but from what I can see from the 1520.. that will be the case. The jpeg processing on the 1520 screams Symbian, which is a good thing.

I am hoping that they can improve the speed of the 1020 camera with the Black update ..or any update for that matter.. its a bit slow..

Can't wait to see what they have planned for MWC this year.. hopefully something based on Snap 805

yeah, horribly slow between shots, up to 4 seconds sometimes. I got so frustrated on a recent trip to USA, ended up taking most of the photos with my 808 instead.

^ The 808 is the type of device which would attract the artistic type... so is the 1020, its just not as good

In the white corner: Nokia 808 PureView. In the yellow corner: Lumia Black

P.S: Lumia 1020 has improved too, but 808 PureView is still the best camera phone ever made !!!

There's a lot of better pictures taken with 808 here but the purpose of "best photo" section is just one.
Put a Nokia on top.
Some of pictures at first page are simply average.
If IQ is the most important thing on a photo, take a picture of a big poopoo with a Hasselblad and cry out loud it's the best...

Thanks for the link, 1020 and 1520 are better than 808 in this comparison.

The 808 will be on top until they come up with a phone with a similar sized sensor, or something completely new in terms of sensor technology..

I am looking forward to the show in Barcelona and hoping that we will get a proper camera phone.

1 inch sensor will be best, but I doubt it..

The 1020 comes close, but as an 808 owner .. it doesn't really offer any significant improvements in terms of image quality.. in many cases its not even as good as the 808, so its a pass for me.

I want a big sensor/optics, xenon, replaceable battery, sd card slot, and snapdragon 805 ...

The 1520 performs very well due to the snap 800 which seems to have a very good built in DSP, much better than the one in the 1020. I am willing to bet that the sound quality on the 1520 is also better..

^ yes, some of them have optics that aren't aligned perfectly.. you could zoom in a bit in pureview mode and it cut that area out.

Either that, or get a new unit.

Just flashed my phone with this CFW

By far the best one I've used so far.

I also updated the keyboard look with this one
