No, we shouldn't judge people about the houses, cars, phones, whatever they have, but I think we'll have to consider, that forums are not the real world.

All those terms (IMO) are just a manifestation of human nature.... people generally like to have others accept their point of view and try and take advantage of those whom don't engage in conflict or "stick up for themselves" - It's the bullying mentality. They make up a term that is passive aggressive in nature to put others down and have the weaker individuals "agree" with them - thus making their side "win"... bravo to you for highlighting the ridiculous nature of this....

There is worse things to stress & worry about in life
This is only true for people with no real connection or compassion for other actual people. Those whose whole life is the internet, find it very important to be accepted on the internet therefore will stress over such things. I'm no Dr. thats just my .02

Get over it! You obviously know better so why worry how other people judge you. The simple fact of the matter is we all do it... cars, cloths, looks, religion, sexuality, race and etc... they only reason it bothers you is that you let.... Ignore it and I promise they will stop and try some new way to get under your skin. Eventually they will either give up all together or call themselves out as ignorant - a win/win for you. In the meantime, Ill get back to my symbian device!

just saying
Cu-
I second that, I also love my Symbian powered 808 (flashes lasers through eyes) Still my daily driver, waiting for the Z1mini or something worthy to replace my 808. If not, I don't mind spending one more year with it

The 808 is indeed still king of the camera phones - I'm not at all disputing that point... But I'll have to say that I've noticed a trend in all of these reviews that seems everyone is overlooking a very BIG factor - Ease of use. We here (on forums) don't mind taking six photos of the same thing to get the best one..... We don't mind carrying three phones with us (on occasion) to do "test shots"..... We're not ever going to think a fellow member is crazy for putting a phone on a tripod.... BUT the fact is, your average consumer will NEVER do this stuff & that's who companies like to sway toward their product. As the old adage goes - "the best camera is the one you have with you." Which brings me to my point....
In this article, the author says;
"Physics always wins out in the end when light levels are low, with the Nokia 808 producing the purest blocks of colour, especially in the blue on the sign, plus very clear lettering. The 1020 is hampered by not being able to match the 8MP resolution of the other phone cameras"
I own both of these phones and have to disagree... as a matter of fact, I think this statement couldn't be any further from the truth. Although the 808 sensor is larger, it can not compete in low light with the 1020 unless you get a tripod involved. SIMPLE AS THAT... and what good is that if you are joe average consumer just wanting to snap a quick shot and not have to do 3min's of set up to take a picture.... not to mention that the image will likely NEVER be printed, NEVER be used as a billboard, LIKELY not be used as wallpaper on your 7136x5360 monitor and might not even make it to your social media page..... as a matter of fact, I'm guessing there's probably only a 50/50 chance it gets resized, compressed and sent as an MMS.
Having said that, I agree that the finite image detail is something worth looking at but I don't think you can look at four sets of images and rate one set highest because it has the best color, the next because it has the most detail, another because it has choses a specific shutter speed to accomplish the same task. If you don't own any of these phones and you were looking to buy one so you could post the best images to your social media page or email to a friend, my suggestion would be to buy a 1020. The gain in IQ you get from an 808 (IMO) does NOT outweigh the convenience and manual control you get from the 1020 not to mention that gap will likely get even smaller once the black update is released. I challenge anyone to go back to that post and show someone all four images on your PC sized to about 600x800 (good web size) and tell me which photos they choose.
I did so with 3 different people and here is how they ranked those images. I simple had them score the images from 4-1 (four being best) to add up a final score and the 1020 came out on top. Visually, my "subjects" chose the 1020 3 out of 4 times. You can blame this on people liking the oversaturated look or just guessing but the fact is the people who chose these image are NOT techie people and two of them have no idea what aperture or ISO even mean!! lol
averaged results went like this;
Test 1 - 1020, Z1, 808, N8
Test 2 - 1020, 808, Z1, N8
Test 3 - 1020, Z1, 808, N8
Test 4 - 808, 1020, N8, Z1
1020 - 15 points
808 - 11 points
Z1 - 9 points
N8 - 5 points
I realize that my "test" is very unscientific but keep in mind I just did it for "visual appeal" results and not to determine technical capability. So if you are simply trying to produce the "best" image, my recommendation would be to buy a phone you like the size, features or specs for and brush up on your photo skills. Im betting MOST any member of this forum could produce "better" photos with an N8 than the "average" person could with the 808 or 1020.
Just some food for thought.
