^ that sucks man.. I really don't understand what they did here, it makes no sense. I get the API change, but why delete the pics on facebook ? They don't want any traces of the 808 on facebook ? lol
Anyway, I use the skydrive app which auto uploads to my camera roll, and then on my desktop I have set the folder as "available offline" so that it keeps a copy of the files on my local hard drive as well, that way I have one in the "cloud" and one locally.. hoping that that's enough to keep them safe in case Microsoft decide to delete all 808 photos from onedrive as well |

I'm telling you, the are up for something here, is like vanishing Symbian and its existence from the face of earth.

If you really look at what happened between Nokia and Microsoft over the years you will find that Symbian caused significant problems for Microsoft from the very beginning. If it wasn't for Symbian, Nokia would've gone with Windows CE (windows mobile) and Microsoft would be in a much, much better position in the mobile business today.. Instead they are still lingering at 3% market share.
My take is that there is still resentment after all these years. The irony is that after all that, Microsoft still got what they wanted more than 15 years ago.. Nokia as their OEM
To be honest I kind feel bad for Microsoft in a way. They had all the right ideas way before Google even existed, but there was always something stopping them from delivering properly. They had the tablet idea, they had a smartphone OS... If you go back far enough you will see that they even had a Unix distro which was one of the best ones at the time, and ironically Linux came from it eventually

They've done a lot of cool stuff. I know the general sentiment toward the company is negative, but they did put a computer on every desk after all... if you look at the overall picture they are a very important part of the way the world works today.
Nokia wanted to put a computer in every pocket, and they almost had it... if it wasn't for Apple's iPhone I think there was going to be enough time for them to react.
I am glad that they got the 808 out of the door on time.. its a milestone in mobile photography and it pushed the boundaries to the very limit. We really don't get that type of engineering any more. |

I dont think we will. Not like the 808.
I was in Barcelona and took amazing photos with the 808, it was my camera and videocamera for the whole trip. The maps, although not been updated since 2013, worked perfectly.

nice photos f
I think I am slowly coming to terms that there is no real replacement for this phone and I don't know if we will get one anytime soon The iPhone 6 is nice, but all the things that it offers over the 808 are not really essential to be honest.. I just have a hard time living without a proper flash, video zoom, replaceable battery/sd card, etc.
There are just a lot of small things the 808 does that you don't appreciate until you don't have them anymore.. you know, like a good friend that is no longer around.
I don't see anything out there that can truly replace this amazing piece of kit.
Anyway, my comp got a mention on AAS

YUP!! I have (since my 808) bought both a 1020 and Galaxy S5 but always find my way back to the 808.

^ I know.. it sucks because I am ready to move on (its been over two years!) but there is nothing to replace it with I don't think I can be content with the ip6
On that note, let us enjoy some pure details

Recently (two days ago) got myself a 64GB Samsung EVO card for my 808 to see how it worked as I wanted to go back to using the 808 full time (but liked having all my pictures at hand like SkyDrive on my 1020)..... I loaded them all to the card (every camera phone pic I have taken since 2004) and it turned out to consume quite a bit of space...
19,852 images = 34.8GB
To my surprise however, the 808 acts like nothing happened... I can scroll through very fast, and it only took like 6min's for the gallery to index all the files... WoW, I wasn't expecting it to go that well... Needles to say, back to the 808 FULL TIME
Love this thing!!
