I can confirm that the ICS 4.0.4 update for Xperia U is now officially available in India since Last Night. 11/10/2012.

Just Updated my Xperia U to ICS via the Sony Update Service yesterday. It was not available via the PC Companion and no notification was present on the phone either.

First Impressions - After initially being terribly laggy for the first hour of use - it is one fluid beast now.

Yes, I mean the OLD Sony Update software (Formerly called as SEUS)... it was not available on the full PC Companion till last night.

The new photo album app lags a bit in opening pics... but the home screens are fluid.. menu opens fast... battery life yet to put to full test.. maybe in a day or two i shall have an idea... Chrome Browser is now included.

As I said.. during the first hour of use - it was painfully slow... it seems to have recovered after that. Camera app is the same. no changes there..

Some widgets like the calendar widget are now resizeable.

@ JC white: hang in there... it may be on it's way - Some UK users have confirmed ICS availability here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/297576#297576

How's the performance? Battery life? Photo/video quality (did it resolve the pixelation on the video capture)?

Still not got it for my handset yet. I have heard that a master reset will sort any lag issues.
