They are better known for their instant cameras which were pretty good to be honest and were around long before digital photography was even invented i guess this is their way of coming into the 21st century and this doesn't seem too shabby either since none of the big players have combined a proper digital camera into a smart phone device. |

Yes the instant ones were good but their digital ones are awful and this thing is fugly as hell. I never want an optical zoom sticking out my phone

It doesn't stick out it retracts like in a normal optical zoom camera.

I know Julias but I don't like a big fat phone with optical zoom looks hideous.

Its not my thing either but i like the idea of having a "proper" optical zoom in a camera phone. |

It would be cool if they could make an optical zoom camera on a phone as thin as Sony T Series cameras with folded optics. One day they will

Honestly folded optics has some image quality issues when compared to retracting barrel lens common in today's cameras, just take a look why Canon has never went to this design with their ELPH/Ixus for the ultracompact category and that most folded optic cameras were never catered to compete with the class leaders in the ultracompact. you may say retracting barrel lens are awful but sometimes it's better to have your so called "awful" than an awful image quality

Yes I know many do but to have an optical zoom in a phone for me & to keep it still slim I would go for the folded optics. And I am sure it will be image quality still than what we have now on phones
