They should have made a version of the arc with dualcore and bigger battery like the motorola razr maxx, its a great concept and wouldnt make the arc that much thicker than the competition

Not if Sony were going to use the same type of plastic that they have used for the Arc and Arc S. At least with the Xperia S, build quality looks to have improved, and hopfully there will be no (housing crack) issues with this device. Here's hoping.

Have to say that I kinda like the fact that I can chose my own ISO setting in the Xperia S... At least for me, details come before noise, especially in dark environments.
All pictures were taken in Landscape Night Mode, phone held in hand (at -15° Celsius I should add ).
ISO Auto:
ISO 800:
And as a comparison, the scene shot using a Satio (SE's first 12.1 MP phone):

Wow! That's quite the jump in night shot quality since Satio! Nice!

I hadn't checked out the full size pics... Well, it beats having a near-pitch black mess.

I agree with bonovox, They need to reduce the noise.. I somehow prefer the satio pic, even though its dark.. But I guess most people would overlook the noise and prefer brighter shots than dark ones..

some digital cameras still struggle in low light situations. Yet here people are complaining about results from their phones, where sensors/lenses are so much smaller/inferior! Be realistic people!

Come on, most people don't even look at the full size pics. They'd prefer to be able to actually see something rather than having crisp snow textures on the street.

I saw hot pixels in the Xperia S... Hope everything turns out fine in the final phone! |

I'm with you here. As I already mentioned, I'd rather have noisy pictures that show more details than images that show a nice, un-noisy black area Of course it would be nice to have less noise also in those pictures, but I guess there are physical boundaries here... Especially if you want to run that marketing megapixel race.

I must be one of the very few who on this forum who does not give a monkeys about the camera on a phone. Design, build quality, all round performance and a great screen is what's most important to me. Hopefully the Xperia S wont disappoint.
