The screen on my Xperia S seems to attract more dust than on my Arc. No big deal just saying.

I can`t imagine how good browser expirience will become with hardware accelerated ICS... just saw this video of Xperia S vs Galaxy Nexus and God they on par even though Nexus have ICS. Very impressed with optimisation work done by Sony.

What did everyone else get in the box? I ordered from buymobilephones.net in the UK and was expecting two NFC tags, but got a HDMI cable, usb cable and headphones. Any other Brits get NFC tags?
Loving the phone so far. |

Seen this competition sometimes, but never actually heard of somebody winning it!
Congrats!

Right, got mine this morning, have set it up and transferred everything off my Arc.
Initially impressions:
- Screen is amazing - such high resolution and really 'eye-popping', going back to the Arc screen makes the Arc's look low res and dull (even thou the Arc's screen is great), but I really can't emphasis how good the S screen is, better than the Samsung SGSII in my opinion.
- The phone is definitely a different form factor to the Arc - it's not unwieldy but it is a little chunkier than the Arc, esp on the sides, it's also taking me a while to get used to the weight, it's it a fair bit more weighty than the Arc and feels a bit heavier in the pockets, but saying that, it doesn't feel heavier or bigger for no reason, for me the weight and size are more akin of the iPhone now.
- Build quality feels a lot more robust from the Arc, the materials feel good quality and soft to touch, I was a little dissapointed initially when it was released without Aluminium, but even the back cover feels nice, I wouldn't try it, but I feels rugged and that the phone could take a bit of a bashing.
- IU is pretty much same as Arc, a few nice visual tweaks hear and there with the higher resolution but not much to mention. I was a bit disappointed that the new timescape feed doesn't now include SMS messages and currently there is no extension to include these. I did quite like having my SMS messages shown on TS. Email and SMS client has been slightly tweaked with a nice textured background.
- Camera - the three sample photos I have taken have been really nice, yes a little noisy and a little to compressed for my liking but at viewing to fit on screen on a computer they look nice, contrast seems to have been improved slightly and colours toned down. Quick capture can take a while to get used to, I have accidentally taken junk shots because I pressed the camera button down too quickly whilst the phone was locked. Incidentally, the quick capture doesn't allow you to preview in the camera app, it tells you to go back into the phone and unlock.
- Speed - as I saw on the demo, Sony have really nailed this - very quick, no lag, and no feel that things are going to slow down, everything is liquid smooth and responsive.
- LED notification flashes blue for new SMS, missed calls, etc and is now above the screen (ala X10).
- Port flaps - total waste of time, they are fiddly and bound to get broken - don't know why SE/Sony included these.
- Capacitive buttons - after all the fuss in the various reviews I have absolutely no issues with the capacitive buttons and I actually think they work pretty well, however I do miss not being able to unlock view the buttons now (you have to use the unlock on the top of the phone).
All in all, a very solid package from Sony. |

Anyone had any luck getting a good deal out of Orange UK for the S? Their website says it's free on contracts worth over £36 per month which seems a little excessive.
p4u have it on orange for 28.50 as a discount on the panther 36 tariff

Nothing officially from Sony other than Q2. Unofficially, in a youtube clip it was said it will come approxemately within 3 weeks from now i.e somewhere at beginning of April. |
