Hey randomuser! This post kinda got lost in the IFA excitement so I wanted to ask about it. I realize you can't give specifics, but are we on the right track to think Sony wants to be in the SoC business for mobiles? Or are you hinting at aquisitions in other areas relating to mobile?
Also I don't suppose you could give us an idea of how soon the near future is, could you? |

I wasnt that impressed with the xperia t when I first saw it...but I have to admit its really growing on me...i was certain I wanted an lte phone next n was 99% set on the xperia v after I saw it was lte and waterproof! But now....the T is looking more n more attractive....dammit!

Are you blind? Don't you see that are full resolution untouched pictures. And yes sony is where is should be. These pictures are mediocre. Same quality like xperia arc. Iphone 4s and SG3 is miles away from sony in imaging department. Even xperia P takes 10 times better pictures than this piece of crap 13 MP module. |

Looks like they need to use a larger f/1.8 sensor and f/2.0 (or larger) optics.
That and they need to use a better image processor. f**k Cybershot, they should use the Bionz chip they have in their RX100 |

No, Sony just needs to dial back on the noise reduction; the loss of detail seen in those shots are noise reduction artifacts. Sony's sensors are among the best in the industry, and I'm fairly certain the optics for their camera modules are perfectly fine.
Sony's always had a problem with their JPEG processing algorithms, and it's clear that they haven't changed it yet. |

Bionz doesn't fix Sony's problems with noise reduction. Comparing Nikon and Sony shows that Sony's noise reduction algorithm is still far more destructive towards details. The problem isn't the sensor, the problem isn't the optics; the problem isn't even Sony's image processing. Sony just needs to dial back on the noise reduction. Plain and simple.
At the same time, though, the pictures from the T/TX/whatever look fine when not cropped in 100% (most people aren't going to crop in that much on a cellphone picture anyway). |

how come SXV uses Bluetooth v4.0 while SXT/SXTX uses v3.1 ?
I start to get the feeling that SXV was fully developed in Jepan unlike SXT/SXTX.

Hi.
I did not like the 2012 line and I also do not like these 3 new phones ...
I Just do not understand why sony needs 4-5 phones same size and almost the same specifications (and ignore their Mini fans) ...
To develop so many phones cost too much and they will never earn it back.
If I was Sony I would make 3 phones S.M.L in 2 versions each ... basic and high end.
