Gorilla Glass is very thin so it's perfect for slim phones like GSIII but Active's scratch resistant display isn't bad either, especially since several torture videos that went viral came to prove it's epic strength. and I think Acro S and Go shares the same protective glass as the active.

razec: It would be nice if the Acro S get this unbreakable glas, but no info about it...

Bonovox: I speak from my own experiences. Had many S(E)ONY Phones and all has this hard plastic screen... I think because of that this screens are not so sensitive... Just tap/knock on the screen, then you hear it... It's too soft for glas...

A lot of Sony devices have a shatterproof sheet over the screen from the factory. For example my x10a had it and so does my tablet S. It is glass underneath.

Btw, I have dropped my x10a both with the shatterproof sheet and without at least a dozen times each from about 5 feet on wood and concrete, and not a single crack on the screen. This mineral glass is amazing!

@Bonovox ... I dropped my x10 on a tile floor. It landed on the front corner and spider cracked through the lower half of the screen. It was still useable but it broke nonetheless. I've never had a gorilla glass phone so i can't comment on its toughness.

Looking forward to hearing and seeing more about mint. But for me, I think I will definitely be going with Hayabusa because of design and the fact that I don't really care if i have LTE. Screen looks great. I've never been disappointed with the display of any sony ericsson phone I've ever had and I don't think I'll begin to. My X10, even without 16m colors, still gives a sharp and colorful picture. My friend with a samsung having an AMOLED screen had a noticeably green tint to it that made it look disgusting. Even with just 65K colors, my X10 screen (even after water damage!) looked much nicer.

Anyway... It will be hayabusa for me. I'd like to see more video demos/reviews of it (the international version) and an release date would be great

GS3 uses Gorilla Glass 2 and is easily scratched and cracked. So it don't mean nothing really. The glass Sony uses is as strong.

Pre-IFA Press conferences and product announcements schedule (from GSMArena.com):

04:00pm - 05:00pm: Sony plans to unveil the Xperia S refresh - the recently caught in the wild Sony Xperia SL (LT26ii), the Xperia LT29i Hayabusa and finally, the LT30i 'Mint', which as as we recently learned , will go by the name of Xperia T. This will be one of the most interesting IFA's press conferences, for sure.

07:00pm - 08:00pm: Samsung already has a lot of people excited about its upcoming Galaxy Note 2 announcement. The 5.5-inch phoneblet is one of the most anticipated Android devices to come out in the second half of the year.

Samsung right after Sony, quite a bad timing for Sony?

It's only bad if Samsung's announcement is more exciting.

i.e. If Sony's handsets are more exciting then it's bad for Samsung no? Everyone will be in the Samsung talk saying "but Sony just showed us something similar and their's is better"

It works both ways.

I want to see how they differentiate between LT29 and LT30. Mint looks like it could be the higher specced phone.

Sony Xperia T (LT30at) pops up in benchmark

The Sony LT30at, codenamed ‘Mint’ and believed to be marketed as the Xperia T has popped up in the AntuTu benchmark. The benchmark shows that the handset delivers a score of 7,012 running Android 4.0.4. It shows that it has a processor speed of 1.5GHz and the test was taken in the United States on 3 August 2012. This particular version of the Xperia T will be heading to AT&T in the United States and is believed to have a metallic back rather than the plastic construction of the international version (LT30p).

True, but realistically what are the chances of Sony announcing something better than the Note?

The Note, based on Samsung's previous strategy, is usually a tiny bit better version of the current Galaxy S. Besides, we already know what Sony's upcoming phones pack in terms of specs and there doesn't seem to be any surprises left for us to see.

It would be nice for Sony to come up with a surprise or two but I doubt there would be any.

worf1000 you except too much...

Sony can't compete with the S3 and now they should compete with the NoteII? No chance, unfortunately...

In design Sony will win, no question. Hayabusa is my clear favourite. IFA will be better than CES or MWC this year.

Note will probably have exynos 5450 which is a real a15 soc with mali-604 gpu and their new thin displays. I dont think Sony can compete with that.
Or the same soc used in this tablet:

I really hope we get GX also here in Europe and not just Mint. GX will finally replace my arc

The upcoming Xperias on the other hand will have better design, superior camera, PSMobile ad possibly Gaikai service. and Samsung's got nothing compete against that, they're too focused at beating Apple anyway. I'm personally more excited with the Xperias than an oversized, and a bit faster Galaxy SIII. because it might come with something new on the market (I'm referring to the PSM and Gaikai). by the way who cares if the A15 is a superior chip when all the games it will run will also run fluidly on a "slower" SoC like S4 and Quad core A9?

Haha

Why think you Sony can't keep up with a master in copycat like Samsung?
Explain to me
