I know what you mean, I feel the same. Maybe it is just me but the passion is gone from this thread since it became a Sony- only thread, it is just lacking something that was there when it was Sony Ericsson.
I am trying to love Sony but it just doesn't come naturally, it is more of a forced emotion. Even though Sony Ericsson eventually started to disappoint and lack that initial competitive edge, there was always a special feeling about the company.
I will buy a Sony phone next year but it just won't be the same that is for sure.

Geez calm down people... Im sure once Sony has settled in post merger, they will be up there with Samsung/HTC offerings... (i could very well be wrong!)

So that's the last batch of phones that have  blood in their veins  . we shall see the real Sony made devices maybe next year

Everything this year has blood in their veins, even the Hayabusa and Mint. Olive is the only phone this year developed under SMC, rest all are SEMC developments. So yes only next year will we see actual SMC phones come out. And from the looks of it, they are gonna be REALLY good, especially that 5inch 1080p beast which is gonna be coming to AT&T in April 2013. This is from someone with connections at AT&T. The device is about the same size as the Ion but with almost no bezel hence Sony was able to plonk in a 5 inch screen in almost the same footprint as Ion.
P.S. Others can ignore my post as I believe nobody wants to talk about 2013 devices as yet  |

Do you guys know something the rest of us don't or are you just upset that the low level facebook PR stunt didn't present you what you want?
I don't think many of us had our hopes very high on this fast forward announcement, the signs were all there that it was going to be low-key.
History tells us that when they have a proper/flagship announcement there are press invites and a physical event in advance, not a countdown that changes every minute on facebook.
Rubenos (and others) have already shown that there is such an event coming up which looks like the real deal to me.
Keep your pants on.

totally agree...i love sony and their phones, been using the xperia s for a while now and loving every second of it. but i can't stand how people hype themselves up over something that is out of their control only to criticise the company for not being up to their personal standards.
mint phone in the bond movie would be awesome. but where did u get this bit of info from? when is the movie being released? |

Skyfall is due out November 9th. If I were personally in Sonys shoes, I'd want the Bond phone to already be on the market just before the movie releases so that people see it, get excited by it, look it up and PRESTO! Kickass Bond phone ready to buy. Why just before the movie launch and not months prior? Well if the phone has already been out for a couple of months, people will already be familiar with it for the most part and it won't seem as "special". If the phone is launched JUST prior to the movie relasing, they could ride a wave of hype over it. Then again, more time wasted holding off on the phone means the hardware is getting older and older... unless of course they're shooting very high with the Mint.
As a fan though, I would wish Mint to be out as early as possible... unless of course they ARE aiming high to integrate hardware they're waiting on to be ready... or Jellybean or something.
I guess we can assume Mint will have a very sophisticated appearance and appear almost futuristic if it's supposed to be worthy of Bond. My guess is brushed aluminum finish, and at some point in the movie Bond will use the quick sleep-to-snap function of the camera to take a pic of some bad guys in a hurry or something
