Here's what I am not sure on. Do these Nexus devices have any software upgrades by the manufacturers? Or are they just differences in hardware?
The whole point is for a 'Vanilla' android experience, but then I imagine that means losing a lot of individuality and software tweaks. In SE's case, take Mobile Bravia, xLoud, timescape etc. Is it possible to incorporate such features and still create Vanilla android? Or will this just be a battle of the hardware specs?

The original point of the Nexus (and certain other Android devices) was to serve as a reference platforms primarily so that developers would know what kind of hardware specifications Google was targeting; unfortunately, since low-end devices haven't been keeping pace, I think having multiple Nexus devices would be an opportunity for Google to have a reference device targeted for each market segment to signal to OEMs, developers, and customers what their expectations should be in different market segments. Enthausiasts would probably disagree with me on this, but this would not only prevent the Nexus line from being a useless battle of specifications, but it could help improve the general Android ecosystem. |

According to some speculations on softpedia, Sony won't be one of the 5 OEMs to produce a Nexus device, the 5 were ZTE, LG, Motorola(now Google), Samsung and HTC, they'll be announced on November 5.
Although I honestly wished Sony would be one of them. the vanilla androids needed better camera and I doubt we'll see that on other OEMs,

i think that is just pure speculation there though! so sony may still be in it!
infact if google is going for hardware diversity by release 5 different nexus devices...then sony would be an obvious choice...they are one of the few manufacturers that actually make their devices different (mini, mini pro, ray, pro) and stand out beyond just more powerful processors

Hmm. I need atleast 8gb for the music. :/
I'm torn between getting the GX or getting the P for now and go for a proper upgrade next year. The thing is P in India is priced too high, almost as much aas the S. Hence I was looking for more rational options like U. I love the transparent bar!
Btw..so we'll see 2 devices on June 19th? Hayabusa and the other device unknown13x talked about?

The Walkman app have some animated wallpapers, but I don`t think it brings many new features overall.

Also I didn`t realize until now that SX is actually a Ray successor which is good to have smaller phone with higher specs so I hope Sony will release it internationally too like GX. |

Plenty of audio codec support
Volume UP/DWN track change(as we had on cute feature phones)
Mega BASS™ (real bass,... again like former java phones)
Lock screen control
Handy Equalizer
Controller on status bar (can be accessible anywhere)
Live wallpaper visualizations (like w960 :*)
Lag free and on time response (Totally optimized to consume lowest RAM,process and power)
Folder selection capability
Unique UI (optional )
+ All cases which former SE Walkmans had and I can't remember (sense mode and etc ....)

I think they should have a dedicated sound processor which would also help to improve battery life. That way better sound quality and battery life...
