I might or might not.

Flooding the market with the latest and the greatest technology (and user experience) might work for them. But to come late to the market and come up with yesteryear SoC is not the way to go.

The SX can not be the MINT.
Look at the specs of it

http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Sony-Xperia-SX_id7098

540 x 960 pixels screen
8.1 megapixels camera

all this for more money than the GX!

It look like the Xperia Ray successor.

It has been clarified. The GX is for japan. its the hayabusa with LTE. the international Hayabusa wont have LTE and without the SE logo. Mint will be the same for international markets with aluminum unibody and LTE.

Bottomline. No quad core this year. No S4 pro.

I think it is okay then, if we get Hayabusa + Mint for global market.

But I'll still miss the wonderful ION...

Phone Arena about the ST26i:
Thanks to a tipster, we got a whiff of the alleged specs - 4" qHD screen, 1GHz ST-Ericsson U8500 chipset, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and HD video capable camera.

I hope with this early announcement, they will release the global Mint sooner rather than later. I do love the curved design but I'm doubting that it will there with an aluminum body. but if they somehow make it happen, I will be very impressed!

In any case, I hope an announcement for the global hayabusa and mint will come soon with global release 2 months after at MOST!

I need an upgrade desperately and I don't think my water damaged x10 will last me til september. I really don't want to go back to my Z710 flip ....:/

I see. I understand that.

But what I meant is that, what optimization that can be done by ST-E can't be done by Samsung, Qualcomm and the like? Furthermore, company like Qualcomm has way more experience with high performance ARM SoC than ST-E. And to add insult to injury, both Samsung and Qualcomm already has their high end SoC on 32/28nm manufacturing process as appose to ST-E. In this particular case, I don't think any amount of extra effort done by ST-E can match those company in term of performance/energy efficiency. What do you think? Do share your view as I find it very informative. Thank you in advance.

BTW, S4 is more like pseudo-A15 than A9. And the only reason they come up late with even A9-based because they joining the game late with less resources and less experience than the big boys.

Thanks for compliment but I have a lot to learn in this industry

Qualcomm and Samsung today may running their business well and both has better capital to achieve advance technology, but somehow it doesn't mean know-how wise is greater than real big boy in mobile industry such as Ericsson, I think you quite underestimate them.

About chipset and battery performance of ST-E U8500 is unable to judge right now due to globally delay shipment of XPERIA P and XPERIA U that carry a smaller battery (1300 mAh) than today average (1600-1800 mAh), I really do wonder and eager to see why SONY is betting their mainstream handset of 2012 line up with smaller battery capacity.

While look up at the list and see ST-Ericsson as CPU maker, I'm quite sure they might have something ace up on the sleeves, Ericsson maybe new to CPU-business but they're one of leading-class in optimization STMicro is also veteran in business. then it worthy to take a closer look to see how it will perform in every aspect of real-life performance, benchmarks and battery of course.

Due to technology differentiation, 45nm manufacturing process in ST-E chipset compare to today 28/32nm pure performance is unmatched but you have to considered about price and target group which is not direct competitors, those ST-E chipset is aim for mid-market while Qualcomm and Samsung chipset only aim for high-performance market which may have much advance technology to use larger battery.

anyway, is quite long talk now I'm sorry for interrupting space of rumour forum and also my grammar English is not up to.

Some more quotes, this time from u13x :
Hayabusa will have 1750 and the Mint will have 1850. They both have different battery capacity. Hayabusa battery will be removable, while the Mint won't be. You guys choose.

Anyways, Hayabusa will be slightly different in terms of design. It won't be full white like the GX. I personally like the GX more in terms of looks though.

BTW, will any of these new (or still upcoming) phones have a microSD card slot? Or no expandable memory anymore at all from Sony? 8 / 16 GB is not enough for me, personally.

Xperia GX (Hayabusa) and Xperia SX (Komachi). Mint is the international GX with a slight design change and LTE.

Non removable 1850mAh battery metal uni body vs plastic on haybusa, no logo. I gathered all this from the XDA forums.
