Spot on I've seen some quite wealthy people come to Selfridges in London and just buy these without thinking twice

I know you do but yours is just a tiny store compared to our flagship London store. There is also a Official Vertu Boutique not far on Bond Street.

Some think they are ugly but I have owned two of them and this looks like it will be my third when it hits my local Vertu dealer here in the US.... They have unsurpassed build quality and the Concierge service is AMAZING to say the least.... I also have never owned a device with as loud of a speaker not to mention my last one sounded like a Ferrari starting up when you turned it on!

but is this some pretentious way of pretending to own a ferrari because your phone has such "sounds"?
Surely any modern phone can "sound like a Ferrari"!

I very rarely discuss it here but Im proud to own a late model Ferrari but have never wished to own a Vertu as it is merely a pretty picture (in some people eyes) compared to being a real work of art, both in style and mechanics

Each to their own choice of course but lets keep things in perspective please. if you need to justify an expensive phone purchase in terms of a Ferrari sound then there is certainly something missing from the phone and you really should consider putting that money to the real thing...

I have had several Nokia 8800 series and even those I sold quickly as they were the "pretenders" in this mobile phone arena.

Honestly, when people dismiss iphone I always think back to the acceptance of phones such as vertu, 8800 series, gold V3i (D&G) etc... and wonder "why?"

Skipping over your calling me "pretentious" and adding that I have zero desire to own a Ferrari... I'll just say the sound that comes from these phones is much louder, more crisp and realistic than any other phone I have ever used.

Trust me.... this phone is indeed a REAL WORK OF ART. Also some people "value" different things... a car just to get you from point A to point B and a Ferrari is for old men trying to impress the young ladies (Im beyond all that). Additionally, as much traveling as I do, much of my time is spent in the air and in rental cars.

Find your local Vertu dealer and go hold one of their devices..... it is much more than just the "sound of a Ferrari" and there are other models to choose from ... the "size" of the sound that comes from their phones are UNSURPASSED and build quality can not be matched by any other device.... I have owned many phones and still (other than functionality up to this point) have never liked a phone as much as a Vertu considering the services offered along with the device.

Agreed... never liked the 8800.

sorry, there was no personal intention in my post as there never is as I honestly don't know any esato members personally...

but... I have been personally invited through Amex to view Vertu's at Bluewater shopping centre and given them thorough consideration and have fairly quickly dismissed them as I did ithe 8800 series.

Although I could afford them I very much appreciate value over style and am not willing to pay for style... a point I have regularly tried to make on my choice of iPhones though few here seem to appreciate that I choose my phone for function over form, or being some kind of zombie droid in some way...

I choose my phone now from 26 years experience in the market place and that is something I expect few here can appreciate but which I would hope some can consider the wisdom that it brings...

sorry but "because" as a reason just proves my point when that is the best excuse can find to actaually to prove my point... oh dear

I figured it wasn't personal... no worries.... Well... I believe its a fine device and have gained much enjoyment from the ones I've had... I guess to each his own and I certainly don't categorically reject your stance on the subject, it just happens to be one of the "silly" things I like to spend "too much" money on..... phones and pens... @masseur owning a vertu is about being individual and standing out from the crowd people who buy these do so for the very same reason that we would say choose a Tag Heur watch over a Sekonda we know which is oozes quality and is built to last even though both do exactly the same job and comparing a vertu with a fine watch is a perfect comparison as each vertu is hand assembled with superior parts not mass produced over some third world assembley line its for these reasons vertu is worth the price.

The Constellation T is also the first ever full touch screen phone from Vertu.
