HTC has added the EVO 3D to the list of unlockable Android devices. The HTC developer site now offers 9 variants of different devices to have a unlockable bootloader

All the HTC devices currently available for unlocking of the bootloader are already running the latest version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread so most owners might not be willing to take the risk of doing a unlock. That will of course change when new versions of the Android operating system are released. The full list of official unlockable devices are now - EVO 3D (Sprint)

HTC warns that not all claims resulting or caused by or from the unlocking of the bootloader may be covered under warranty. Some devices might not be unlocked due to operator restrictions. Unlocking a bootloader will give the owner more control over the device. The bootloader is a small program which decides which application must run in the boot process. By unlocking the bootloader, the user can customize the software on the Android device. The unlocking process might not be for everyone. You will need to download and install the free Android SDK application suite, connect the phone to a PC and exchange information with the HTC web site to receive a unlocking token.
