External bluetooth GPS devices don't use A-GPS (Assisted GPS).

Assisted GPS communicates with the phone towers to reduce the time taken to get a GPS fix. In doing so, it uses a very small amount of data.

With an external unit, A-GPS is totally unnecessary. Why? Because external units actually have good hardware and receiving GPS satellite signals is no problem for them, so there is no need for the A-GPS assistance.

You will need navigation software on your phone if it doesn't already come with it, though. Many Nokia smartphones come with the necessary Ovi Maps software (you just download the countries you want...) Not all countries are offered and not all countries are navigable. Best to check online for Nokia's Map Coverage tool.

Hope that helps.
