Well, that isn't a reason.

Internal memory is faster than microsd cards, it gives you a perfomance boost while reading a big amount of data(for example thousands of pictures and videos)and it's better for video recording(the streaming works much better).

On the other hand, not every app supports App2Sd and if you look at the other devices, all of them have much more:

-Desire HD=1.5GB
-Atrix=16GB
-Optimus 2x=8GB
-Optimus 3d=8GB
-SGSII=16GB or 32GB

Even our X10 have more(1GB)

@Wishmaster89: I would like to try that for you, but I think I'm missing the necessary cable - or is there another way to verify?

of course its a reason....

since froyo... android 2.2, you've been able to install apps on external storage.

the speed comparison is not noticable under normal use unless you have some very accurate measuring!

and.. if apps don't support external mem then its time they were updated if they are serious apps. This is the new age!

No more DLNA?? It has been removed from page and removed on the Whitepaper.

Around 1:45 in the clip below, the MediaShare app (aka DLNA server) is shown.

Come on, My Class 6 MicroSD is faster than most USB flash drives in the market !!
and if Class 6 is not enough, go for Class 10 !!

I know I know, having more memory is better but speed is not a reason here... let's face it we just need more memory because this can be done !!
just include 8GB of internal memory and remove the bundled 8GB microSD.. just leave the microSD slot here for those who needs more memory... and I think if you did remove the bundled microSD and added 8GB of internal this ( just keep the slot for those who needs more ) I think this will not change the cost that much ( and maybe it will be lower ) and also gain users satisfaction too...

I still have the good old W960i which had 8GB of internal memory... sadly that one didn't have card slot if any one needs more.

DLNA is still there, via the Media server app.

And no HDMI cable present. But as I mentioned in our post, this might differ from market to market.

Why don't do this is beyond me. The only explaination is that it is cheaper to use an SD card. Don't know how that is possible though..... The lack of on board memory is the only thing making me think twice about the Arc.

explain to me why we need so much internal memory?
i have like top 10 apps installed(i would never need more, with alot of apps the phone seems bloated, and if i need something i just download7install in a few sec then uninstal)
every game uses the SD card for saves/other files than the "start file"
the camera saves on SD so does the Camcorder.

my phone tells me that i have 465MB total internal memory and 304MB free
someone said the x10 had 1gb ? not my phone anyways

but my point is i use around 160MB and i am happy so 300MB+ will do just fine in the arc
i have a 16gb class 6 SDcard.

So you wouldn't prefer to have say, 8Gb on board + whatever SD card you install?

I guess 8gb is really nice but if i don't need more than a few hundred MB it's overkill? thus making the phone cheaper by adding less internal memory and the choice to buy a bigger SD-card instead.

Xperia x10 has 1GB internal Memory, with Android and SE apps it lets you 465MB avaliable for apps:
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_xperia_x10-2964.php

I only have 100MB free in my X10 and believe me i don't have thousands of bullshit apps like lightsaber and strange things like that XD.

So, if you have 465MB free with 1GB, think about how much will you have with 320MB...just to let you know, the HTC desire has only 120MB free with 512MB

okey, i thought 300 was calculated as FREE when i got it stock installed? then i understand the fuss. but advertising it with 300mb internal memory and with stock apps only like 50mb left the memory seems a much bigger issue

Also, if you have plenty of on board memory you can use the space for media and other files. Which will most likely load faster than any sd card too.
