Let me see.
When he first tries to swipe open the screen. Now that is just the start. The animations are choppy, moving through the menus is extremely choppy i can go on and on. Oh wait, the camera "loads" whereas in the arc in the same time frame u can take more than 10 clicks
is that Choppy? then what is this?

I only see a bit of lag here and there in that video, the same that you can notice even in the iphone 4, nothing compared to the actual pre-release firmware that the arc was running at the MWC

Xperia arc is fairly smooth. There are only a few areas where there is any lag. The most noticeable lag is in the pinch-to-overview widgets. Other than that, it lags on the home screens containing the photo widget, timescape widget and the favorite contact widget. The reason for this lag is that all these three widgets refresh every time you move through the 5 home screens. These widgets need to be optimized to refresh faster. But, if you dont use these widgets, the lag will not exist.
You can see it here

In the silver arc, the timescape widget is not configured and so there is no lag on that page. The lag is only present in the page containing the photo widget.
You can see from all the videos that there is absolutely no lag when moving through the menu or the media gallery or browsing the internet. The cam is also way faster than the one on Galaxy s2.
Anyways, the fact of the matter is that galaxy s2 is really fast and so it should be. But, the xperia arc is almost as fast as the GS2. There is no significant performance boost due to the dual-core processor. Once the Android OS is optimized to use dual-core processors, there will be some noticeable performance boost. But that has atleast 6-8months to go. By that time, will have their dual-core phone ready. For now, arc is the best looking android phone with a very smooth UI and one of the best cams. Its not the fastest phone in the market but it is definitely not slow in any way.

As I said, that's a matter of opnion, nothing more, nothing less. Your expectations differs from what SE had in mind.

this is a great move by SE, dual-core processors in mobile is not yet fully optimized, or cant really tell the difference from a single core to from a dual core, lag is present in every gadgets we have , that is normal.
and i think SE is will release their dual core phones(Xperia Duo?) as soon as these cores have been optimized to android and will really make a difference from a single core, SE is not in a hurry, like they said they learned a lot from last year android experience, and they are doing it now

Yeah, i noticed that too in the other video i posted, obviously, it would be VERY STRANGE that this kind of phone lags everywhere and it's mainly related to those widgets.
You can see from all the videos that there is absolutely no lag when moving through the menu or the media gallery or browsing the internet. The cam is also way faster than the one on Galaxy s2.
Yep, the camera is probably the fastest i've ever seen, it's really good, about the gallery, i see it faster on the galaxy SII, probably thanks to the high amount of internal memory.

Well, i'm not really sure about that, let's review some info:
-The next android version(2.4 probably gingerbread again) is just an update that provides support for multicore apps from 3.0 in singlecore devices and also will improve OS and apps perfomance in multicore gingerbread devices.
-The Xperia ARC was caught showing 2.4 android version, Rikard denied it was an update, he said it was a "misconfiguration", but then it was said that there is true that a 2.4 version exists and that SE would be probably the first manufacturer updating to this version.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/[....]e-on-a-prototype-sony-ericsso/
-Unknown13x, a SE insider at XDA said that "guys, SE never said anything about 2.3, they just told us that their devices will have gingerbread "

-There is a rumor(i read it@ engadget but can't find the article now) that talks about all devices jumping directly to android 2.4 keeping android 2.3 just for the nexus one and nexus S, this could mean that all the new gingerbread phones would come with 2.4 android version.
-Acer viewsonic viewpad 4 is supposed to be released in April with 2.4

It's seems it is much closer than we think, otherwise it's normal if it is just an update that only adds multicore support.
For now, arc is the best looking android phone with a very smooth UI and one of the best cams. Its not the fastest phone in the market but it is definitely not slow in any way.
That's a fact, it's the best looking android phone(and probably the best looking phone at all) and can't be discussed, but i'm very afraid of SE and their strange methods, for example, now i read in GSMarena that the ARC will have 320MB of internal memory, even with apps2Sd, i really hope this is not true, because i can't understand why they do this knowing that our X10 has 1GB.
That's an improvement
Don't know why but i posted all this in one single post but it was always cutted out, even if i edit the text to make it smaller...

They're gonna start at the very least with their first tablet billed S1 when it makes more sense to do so. But most will not be able to see this point since the most powerful devices seems to generate the most buzz http://techcentral.my/news/st[....]ews/20110223111754&sec=it_news

Unless they are live wallpapers( i've seen one that is like the one we have in the x10), everyone with root and rootexplorer can provide them, i extracted them from my x10 and they work in other phones.
