Don't think the comparison is conclusive since the X10 had image stabilizer on which kinda deteriorates the quality of daylight photos although I do use as it performs quite well in low-light situations, especially for photos with family and friends where you have to rely on a stranger's hands for a snap

This is much faster, especially the timescape app, however i keep noticing some lag while swyping through desktops and when "pinching & zooming your widgets" , i've been watching some desire HD reviews and it's a bit smoother than the ARC, i compare them because the HD is almost the same hardware.

From Rikard Skogberg at Sony Ericsson Product Blog:
Even though we have a very busy schedule down here I have had time to follow the online buzz a little bit. It seems that the reporting on our new products is spreading wildly and almost all media seems to think our new products are great and that we’re on the right track.
I have seen some remarks on lag when using some functions etc and I just thought I should make clear that from a software perspective these new models are not final yet. We still have some weeks to finalize the software and there will be further fine-tuning of performance before launch. Just an important thing to remember – the “final” verdicts will come when we got our launch software out for reviews with media at launch.

X10 seemed destined to succeed when it was announced. Now it is considered a failure by many. Don't let bad programming kill the Arc as it did the X10

XPERIA Arc pre-order price available for Thai market now is around 470 euros after converted.
And Neo also out as it available around 353 euros. Both sim-free
Not bad for low performed market when compare to other conutry in this region.

Well, Rikard said so many things...where is DLNA? and the "famous UPX" with improved timescape and mediascape?
I know it's his job but the x10 has fallen into oblivion in that blog so many times that it's hard to believe anything...

We'll see the reviews.

@unknown_x

I think the point Rikard is trying to make, and one ive been saying in other forums, is at this point, I think many are OVERLY critcising , despite the fact their new handsets are still only running pre release firmwares.

The same thing is not happening on the same scale for other manufacturers...

That's true, but it may be because the other manufacturers(or at least samsung) aren't showing this kind of lag in their pre-release firmwares.

True, DLNA was promissed in May/June 2010 in the SE blog and then forgotten as it seem. There are however DLNA apps on the Android Market one can use instead.

UXP is the name of the UI users of X10 have been using from day one (nothing new), so I'm not sure what you are referring to with "famous UXP" and the updates to media- and timescape came with the latest X10 update (whether you like it or not is a matter of opinion).

DLNA was promissed since day ONE and it wasn't there, then it was promissed to come with the "GREAT UPX UPDATE", and we are still waiting for it.

I'm referring to the "GREAT UXP UPDATE", in the last update we only recieved dualtouch and a mediascape update which doesn't have the old nice animations and only adds playlists and landscape mode. Timescape is the same, with the same widget too( there were some pics with the x10 showing the same timescape widget the xperia ARC has), let's remember what Rikard said about this:

Some examples of user benefits that will be included in the UXP upgrade for Xperia™ X10 in Q4 2010 are:

- Upgrade to Android OS version 2.1------->yes

- HD video recording as per the same execution as Sony Ericsson Vivaz™------>yes

- Wireless home connectivity via DLNA------->no, and it's seems it will never be added.

- Improvements to signature applications Timescape™ and Mediascape to make them even smarter and richer--------->no, Mediascape loses cool animations, gains playlists and landscape mode and it's VERY FAR from the 3dgallery smoothness and speed, sorry but if these are "improvements to signature apps to make them even smarter and richer"...they failed.

With this i'm not criticizing the X10, just trying to say that Rikard is not the best source for trusted information, it's their job and they are trying to sell their mobile phones, as soon as reviews come, we will see if it is smooth or not.

Let me see.

When he first tries to swipe open the screen. Now that is just the start. The animations are choppy, moving through the menus is extremely choppy i can go on and on. Oh wait, the camera "loads" whereas in the arc in the same time frame u can take more than 10 clicks

is that Choppy? then what is this?

I only see a bit of lag here and there in that video, the same that you can notice even in the iphone 4, nothing compared to the actual pre-release firmware that the arc was running at the MWC
