@djin multi touch on Arc is the smoothest and most fluid I have used. Really excellent. With all the new added features and miles better performance its certainly a big step up from x10.
Thanks. Glad to hear that

How do people perceive the music quality?
I sort of want the Arc, but the audio quality needs to be good, and based on gsmarena's review, it is not. They did say they're going to try another handset to confirm, but so far they haven't.
There was a time GSMArena was my goto site for phone reviews, lately though their reviews have been very formulaic&trite. PhoneArena actually has more in-depth & experiential articles very useful for people who want to know how the phone actually handles.
I still read GMSArena's stuff since they cover quite a number of handsets & have useful stats but I no longer depend on it that much as far as choosing a phone is concerned.
That said, no review is going to match dropping by a shop & having the salespeeps play an MP3 track or just demoing an FM station. Firsthand is still the best , specially if it's audio.

Hi!
please can someone tell me about the email client on the Arc!
My Nexus One has a separate yellow and white icon for Email which I use for Exchange Server email. It also has a another icon for GMail with a red coloured M !
The Galaxy Tablet has a different way! Please can someone tell me what the Arc has?
Off to search for piccies on the net.

I do wish it had ISO settings though. How would I know what ISO it is using?? My god I just used Media Go! software for first time as I never bothered before. Talk about slow And what is it with Media Go! cos my pc is a quad with 5 gig of ram. Yet Media Go! pushed my CPU upto 84%. WTF??

I find the sound quality on the Arc much better through headphones and on speaker compared to both iPhone 4 and LG Optimus 2X.
The sound is louder and clearer. The only downside is that the plug is on the side. Why did you do that to me SE?
There is a reason every other handset has the plug on top.
I find that the battery doesnt last much, but I am on my second charge, and I believe that it will get better.
Rockplayer doesnt support hardware decoding on Arc, I believe. SW decoding works fine, and both picture and sound is vivid and good. Much better than iPhone 4. The downside with software decoding is battery drainage.

I believe MediaGo analyses every single song in your Library for mood (sense me) You can probably disable this feature somewhere in the settings.

That is why SE supplied it with the "L" shape plug. (did they?) |

So much to learn with Android. My battery runs out after 8-10 hours. Been using the unit pretty much but I guess its all the programs that refreshes too often... Found out that my mail checked every 15 minutes... Now I have turned pretty much to manual refresh. Lets see if it helps... Screen consumsion 57% ... Guess I need to let it bee for a while... |

My screen consumption was even higher than that...in the 80s at one point. Its my first experience of gingerbread and I am really noticing the difference.

My battery drained completely in 6 hours as I played with it a lot! I did the following the next morning after charging it fully:-
1. Put the power control widget on my homescreen. Setoff wifi and put the display brightness at the middle setting (around 40%). Tap the brightness level on this widget again if I want to see multimedia at 100% brightness, then turn it back down once I am done with. If using wifi I also suggest going in the wifi settings and set it to turn off when the display goes in standby.
2. In accounts and sync I left it on auto. However I only selected gmail and unchecked contacts, calendar, & picasa.
3. In the gmail app settings in "Labels" I only sync the inbox and the sent items. I set the number of days to 2.
4. Downloaded the free app "Airplane autoswitch" to automatically put the phone in airplane mode (turn off all signals) during night time when sleeping. This reduces the battery drain at night time when the phone is idle.
5. Set the phone's mobile network to "GSM only". This is usually fine for normal browsing and if you plan to do some downloading/streaming then you can revert back to the original settings.
6. You can also turn off data traffic (use the widget for this) when the phone is not in use.
I did the first 5 steps and I then got drained the battery by 35% in 6 hours of normal usage. A big improvement compared to before. However if you are using a big smartphone you must also make sure you charge your phone every day |

Mine did as well the first two charges, then following the third:
60% after 1day and 11 hours with all synchs on (gmail, whatsapp, facebook...)
I say wow !

I guess it will get better after a few more charges. |
